SHOT Show Coverage

My goodness, there are so many rumors about new product introductions at SHOT this year that my cherubs and seraphim are all a'flutter!

Last year was sort of a holding action, but with the Lawsuit Dragon slain, the military wanting new pistols and a bunch of across-the-board increased LEO and civilian demand, it looks like the gunmakers have stepped up.

Anyhow, I'm hearing so much I'm thinking about going to two SHOT Show episodes of SHOOTING GALLERY.

What do you guys (and guyettes) think about that? Too much?

The SHOT Show is too big for a single TV episode any way you look at it. More air time is good.

Last year's show left me and my friends wanting more. Going to a second show is a GREAT idea. I might have to host an SG SHOT Show viewing party at my house.

OK, but if you do two SHOT show episodes can you please give more closeups (full screen is great) of the actual guns and stuff you're describing. I can only afford a 32" TV and couldn't see much of what you were talking about in your last SHOT show special.

I'm also a big Sig Sauer fan (just got my first P229R!) so please showcase as much of their new stuff as you'd like! Anyway, I'm a big fan of Shooting Gallery! Keep up the great work!

Yes, a second show, and more gun closeups please! It's like gun pr0n in motion!

Seriously, one nice aspect of the closeups is that we get to judge (especially with new handguns) just how big/small the guns are relative to each other -- because your "girly-man hands" act as a constant for reference.

This would be easier still if you'd run a few seconds of video showing some standard-sized item in your hands -- like, say, a can of beer? (grin)

David has a good point. More long, static, close ups with a comon object thrown in for reference. A flashlight review site I know uses a Maglite for size reference, but anything would do. Is there a 3"x6" SG patch/sticker you could use? A Leatherman? Even a bic pen would work, but it'd be a bit tacky.

Some good close ups of the gun would be great but the sizing reference is not needed. I want to see it up close and determine if that's one I want to look at for purchase. I'd like to use your show to help me build my 2006 shopping list. More products and absolutly a second show!

I would really like to see more of the new products being introduced at Shot Show. I thoguht last year's show was cool - and your shirt was a riot. I hope you do a 2-parter this year.

The more the better! I would say two shows minimum. For those who cant make it this year, any additional coverage you can provide would be GREAT! And of course, the more Sigs the better ;)

Michael - can you do three shows? One on handguns, one on ammunition and one on everything else?

Anonymous said...

Please do two shows. I'd like to see more of the show floor regardless of the products and more of the people too. There are a lot of top shooters and comapny big wigs that will be there and it would be nice to see you interact with them like you do your other guests.

Mr. Bane, As President of USFA, I agree with your approach to include more air time for an objective look products at SHOT Show 2006.

I find that some of the most interesting interviews are the ones done by true "gun people" about well made guns and their design and manufacture.(The story behind the story.)

I would be happy to introduce, on your show, our new 2006 Models including the USFA SUPER .38 AUTO™ and ACE™.22 Automatics. USFA has recovered the tooling for production of the Super.38™ and the ACE™ and is the recent Trademark owner of those marks among others including THE WOODSMAN. . .

Joining the Model 1910 & 1911 Autos is of course our full line of classic SAA's and our famous Lightning Magazine Rifles, A Takedown Version, THE MAGIC RIFLE™ is new for 2006 and products of the USFA Custom Shop are on display at SHOT Booth 314.

With this kind of a line up USFA could take up a whole show! -you may want to consider 3 or 4 shows !!!!!!

Best Regards, Douglas Donnelly, Pres. USFA, www.usfirearms.com
