As Always, New Year's Eve with LOTR

It has been an undeniably tough year; so much damage has been inflicted on our country it is breath-taking. And yet, 2010 was also a year in which the people stood up and shouted, "Enough!" Note to the bankrupt and sold Newsweek...it turns out we are NOT all socialists now after all. How abut that?

As I said in my podcast this week, I am hopeful, but not optimistic...if that makes any sense. Those who would see America as we know it — as the Founders envisioned it — destroyed still hold great power and are without a shred of honor or honesty. We have a long fight ahead of us, and without a doubt our country will take more damage in the fight. We have implacable enemies, who seek not our land, our goods, our fortunes, but simply our deaths.

The quest of American exceptionalism, of freedom, is indeed balanced on the knife's edge.

And yet we will stand, because we must.

So, as usual, I leave this year with the words of LOTR, the great morality tale of our generation...may they strengthen our hearts for the battles ahead...

******************************

Frodo: I can't do this, Sam.

Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?

Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.

Happy New Year from the Michael Bane Blog...let us never forget there is good in the world, and it's worth fighting for...

The current administration poses the greatest threat to our Constitutional Rights, especially those acknowledged in the Second Amendment. They are also currently encroaching on our First Amendment Rights, by attempting to pass the "Fairness Doctrine", or some slight-of-hand substitute, or the "Net-Neutrality" actions allowing the government to control the internet. We just heard them talk about silencing talk radio and cable television, including Rush Limbaugh and Fox News! They are and will continue to use "agency actions", as were used by the EPA, when they tried to ban lead from our ammo. That "act" is about to go to "act-2" after the first attempt failed in the courts.
The recent "recess" appointment of Andrew Traver, a very vocal gun-ban activist, to head up the BATF&E is another example where "emergencies" will be declared in order to justify taking direct actions that are not subject to review , debate and voting by our Congress. Prior to him taking over, the "acting" director has declared that the violence in Mexico is an "emegency" and that the BATF&E needs the power to track the sale of certain semi-automatic firearms. (Note that Hugo Chavez is using the same tactic! He just had the Venezuelan Parliament grant him more power, because of their mud-slide "emergency". He is now about as close to being a dictator as he can get!) Same deal with the new recess-appointment of former Mayor of Seattle, Greg Nickels, another gun-banner, to be an Alternate representative to the UN, where the plan is to ban private ownership of guns. That is no BS either.
We all need to be very involved and vocal and above all, JOIN THE NRA! I've been successful in recruiting many new members over the last couple of years and we all need to double our efforts. In the end, it will be up to us to save our own country. I'm with DamDoc when he says that we need to get rid of the enemy from within. Don't listen to the left-wing lies and be deceived. They will not change what they're trying to do. They will only change how they try to get it done!

I really enjoy your podcasts while I'm traveling. Regarding your last podcast: the only fair fight is the one you weren't prepared well enough for!
