The only thing I see to not like about this film is the costuming.
They didn't put the Spartans in standard armor. Should be helmet, cuirass (breast-plate) in bronze or boiled leather, vambraces (arm protection), skirt (bronze slats or leather), grieves (shin protectors) and hoplon (shield of wood and leather), spear and sword.
The movie doesn't give them much beyond loin cloths, swords and shields. Though it is probably more cinematic that way. Why they need to embellish one of the greatest battles in western history is beyond me.
If only I could go back in time with something belt fed and a few buddies from Knob Creek.
ReplyDeleteIn keeping with the Bruce Willis theme, shouldn't the title be a sanitized version of:

McFly 1 & 2,
ReplyDeleteThe movie is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel. All the visuals from that that.
Molon Labe
ReplyDeleteGreat lines:
"Instead ask what a free man would do"
"Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!" (replace Sparta with America and you might have a good rallying cry for current times.
Hopefully this isn't full of the usual PC "let's change history" crap.
PS: I want abs like the guy chucking the spear has. What catalog do I order them from?
PPS: Is Gerard Butler the same actor who played the Phantom of the Opera in the movie version?
