Rumors all over the place that Colt has been sold to Taurus. Unfortunately, they didn't fall into my in-box until after business hours, so I can't confirm or deny until Monday.
Heaven knows there have been all kinds of deals on the table for the Pony, but most of the buyers I talked to were thoroughly disgusted by the pricing.
Let you know as soon as I know...
As predicted last September, Black Beauty Is Dead.

I'd laugh, but I think Taurus could manage Colt a thousand times better than who ever's running them into the ground now.
ReplyDeleteso what do you get when you cross a bull and a colt??? a bolt.
ReplyDelete"so what do you get when you cross a bull and a colt??? a bolt."
ReplyDeleteOr a "cull." Whichever way you choose to view the matter.
No, what you get is a cull, which is probably Colts' fate. Shame what years (decades actually) of arrogance, missmanagement, union labor, and Northeast politics and thinking has done to it. They never really recovered from the damage done by the labor strike in the late '80s. They shipped so much junk, and got away with it, that the bean counters figgured it was an acceptable business practice. It has been Colts base line M.O. ever since, and they bounce off it with fair regularity. I have bought 6 pistols from them over the years, and 4 of them were not made correctly. I have a friend who bought a lot of Colt pistols over the years (Colt fanatic), he got one that they didn't finish machining. Impossible to chamber a round. They claim they test fire everything, that's BS. Mine and his proves it's a lie.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick up a handgun at a store with the likelyhood I would have to depend on it to get me home alive, Colt would be the last brand I would consider.
In essance, they have become purveyers of parts guns(kits) and toys.
I will defer to Mr. Shepherd, who knows everything!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'll also note that representatives of Colt insisted to me that they weren't on the market when I was actually sitting on one of their potential purchaser's offices when the potential purchaser was negotiating with self-same representatives of Colt on the pnone...
