Back from Blackwater!

Spent a few days in lovely Moyock, NC, at Blackwater. Man! I did a bunch of events at the fledgling Blackwater before 9/11, but I truly couldn't recognize the place...talk about seriously huge!

Marshal and I were there to do some work with ace shooter Todd Jarrett and shoot some new ParaUSA hardware for DOWN RANGE...hopefully we'll have it up Wednesday (we need to get some specs for the guns). It was Big Fun...Todd set a new World Record, and you'll get to see him do it...and laugh!

Later today I'm going to post photos and blog stuff on the Para Super Hawg, the six-inch high-cap 1911 introduced late last year at NASGW. I got to put a lot of rounds through the gun and have a lot of positive impressions. I also got to shoot Todd's .40 cal Limited version, the prototype that he show at last Year's USPSA Limited Nationals...gee, you think Todd Jarrett's Limited racegun might rock?

BTW, Fred ain't dead! There's a really funny line going around New Hamster this week on Mitt Romney...which actor in which movie does Mitt Romney most resemble? Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense...he's dead, but he's the only one who doesn't know it....

  1. I always thought Romney resembled a brown-haired Max Headroom....

    "Fred ain't dead"?

Are you keeping a stiff upper lip because of you "campaign connection" with Fred?

That's the only reason I can think of why you wouldn't agree that Fred's campaign is as dead as the proverbial doornail. Fred is going nowhere fast.

Depending on how NH and MI shake out, and Fred isn't even in the running, it may come down to a contest between Huckleberry and McCain. There just isn't a path for Fred to the nomination. And any assertion to the contrary is delusional, just as the Ron Paul supporters insist their guy has a chance at the nomination.

    C'mon, MB, get real.

Huckabee is our only hope people. He can win this whole thing and make things better for a lot of gun owners. NY Times had a good article on his chances http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/07/opinion/07kristol.html?hp

He has been on nothing but a trend upwards since his explosion on the seen. The newest Rassmussen poll puts him in the lead with McCain nationally and with a good shot in Michigan and SC. If he wins SC he is off to the races...

For those supporting Huckabee...Other than pro gun, what attracts you to Huckabee?

    1. No more IRS - I prefer a fair tax system where Pimps, Protitutes, Drug Dealers and the like pay the same taxes as everyone else.

    2. Social Conservative - He's a freakin former baptist preacher...

    3. I think he is the most honest and relatable, yet compitent, candidatethat we have seen in a long time. He was not born rich or powerful - he has earned everything he has and every position he has taken on. None of the others can say that. He comes across as very genuine.

    4. Viable - his message of taking care of the poor and middle class is similar to Obama's and what is attracting indy voters and Republican voters to him. He is talking about simple stuff like gas prices and building better roads and better education that is affordable - this message can bring some indys and lost sheep republicans back.

The last time we had a President who thought he was a preacher (a hick named Gimmme Carter) we experienced 20% interest on common bank loans and a host of other economic disasters that forced me into gun-writing among other things to help pay bills.

I think I'll pass on any more Dudley Do-Right Hucksters for President. I'm not sure at my age I can afford or work my way through their efforts to make things "better".

    Thank you very much,
    Frank W. James

  7. I hope Para has worked out the kinks in the 6" gun. I watched TJ on several stages at the 07 nationals in Tulsa when his gun puked and puked and puked. It was to the point near the end that he was clearly just there having fun and screwing off, waiting for the poor thing to jam.

I'm not sold on the 6" platform just yet, to me there's too much percieved muzzle rise; but to be honest I haven't done much more than play around with a buddy's 6" STI after a match or two....

None of the pissing and moaning here is going to affect anything (other than my blood pressure). The train is moving down the track, and it will git where it’s going. There are about 40 or so million other people out there that will all play a part. In 8 weeks or so most likely there will be one man left standing on the blue and red side. Eight weeks. Hell I been drunk longer than that. The devil herself may have self-destructed today by weeping up in NH. Front page NY Times, Drudge etc. Presidents don’t cry.

It’s these totally unexpected events that will change the course of history. Great book to read is The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Nicholas Taleb (sorry no guns in it). But in any case , this is shaping up to be an election you can tell your grandkids about.

Since we've all engaged in this discussion of "Is he?", or "Isn't he?", I've been watching ALL of the media I can and readung all of the print that I can. Fred is hardly ever mentioned. The last "big" news from Fred was when his wife (!) called in to O'Reilly. Not Fred!
Even "Hilly" managed to act out fake tears. Good, or bad, she's manufacturing news about herself. Fred continues to hide under his desk!
In the "Wolverine State", my state, Fred isn't even a contender. That's sad and a disappointment to me, as I was behind him. The socialists here that masquerade as Repub's, may vote for McCain.
We need to rally behind a candidate that can win. Unfortnately, Fred let it pass by. He has let his suppoters down and never even tried to gain new ones.

Something serious for you Fredheads to consider:

Latest polling has Huckleberry with a big lead in SC and a lead nationally. Fred is nowhere to be found.

So much for your "win in SC" theory.
