On a Lighter Note, the Official SHOOTING GALLERY Margarita

2 ounces 30-30 Reposada Tequila
1 1/4 ounce FRESH-SQUEEZED lemon juice

Shake with ice, then serve on the rocks with salt. Ponder the infinite and don't drive heavy machinery...

  1. Sounds tasty, though I'm not entirely convinced that top-shelf liquor contributes to the overall quality of mixed drinks--in most cases anyway. Maybe mid-shelf ;) What's more important, as you point out, is the fresh squeezed lemon juice--fresh ingredients are what really distinguish a real drink from a Mr T Special. To my palate, top-shelf dooky is meant to be sipped and savored--especially in the case of Tequila. On the other end of the spectrum, there are some low-shelf liquors that should NEVER be sipped!

  3. I always used lime juice when I tended bar (the maitre d' was Spanish). The tequila was so mid-shelf my memory has no clue as to the brand, but this was 40 years ago. Likewise, dunno the triple sec brand.

But the salt - oooh, baby! That was genu-wine Morton's, straight out of the box! Still use it.

A..and I used lime wedges for the garnish. Doubt if could've gotten that little curly-que twist, no matter how big the tip looked to be.
