I thought I had eaten at all of the high speed restaurants in N'Awlins, but boy, was I wrong! Tonight we got taking to a local place, Elizabeth's, on Gallier St. 'way outside the Quarter. The food was breathtakingly good...amazing also comes to mind. We had a sampler of their specialties — BBQ shrimp (!!!), lobster and avocado salad, cold smoked scallops, London broil topped with fresh crabmeat, collard greens, oysters with foie gras, and a desert tray. Add Abita Turbodog and mix well.
Must sleep now...must not eat for the rest of the week...
Do you have any eating spots picked out for the NRA convention?
ReplyDeleteBreakfast at Brennan's....Central Grocery for lunch munch on that mufalleta, then probably hit Maspero's for a po-boy and calamari across from the Jax Brewery, unless for lunch then forgo the mufalleta and take supper at Comander's Palace.
ReplyDeleteDang, there are some things that just don't compare up here in Oklahoma.....
Sitting on the patio of that place by the Street car named "Desire", Eating Bagnets and drinking GOOD coffee. ;D

Hey there Mike! "Who Dat!". I was just there today and ate at Mother's Restaurant, 401 Poydrdas St., New Orleans. Been around since 1938 and they seemed to have figured out how to make great food. At 11:30am the line was out the door and half way around the building and stayed that way till after 2pm. Fortunately it kept moving and the wait wasn't as long as you'd expect. The food was authentic and tasted sooo good. My Flight Attendant arranged the catering for our evening flight from there and the pax loved it. Always great to visit "Nawlins"
ReplyDeleteIf you have a few moments, I'd like you to read my latest blog post if you could. Then comment, please!

What rastus and Air Wolfe said. Glad you like my hometown.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, Air Wolfe. I fondly recall Mothers, but hadn't had it confirmed that it was still there. I shudder when I'm anywhere else and see what I get when I order a Po Boy. If you don't have the gris gris juice running down your arms while you're eating it, it's just not there.
ReplyDeleteWhat IS that bowl in the pic?
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was unGodly huge granola with marshmallow (singular, not plural).
But after reading the post, I don't know WHAT to think.
