Gee, weren't you guys just in the 9th Ward? I picked this up on the way to work in Tulsa this morning listening to WWL 870 radio in New Orleans. Still good weather conditions for AM dx.

The 9th Ward is still a dangerous place!!!

A man was fatally shot on the street at the intersection of North Roman and Lamanche streets while trying to carjack someone Wednesday night, New Orleans police said.

The man's identity wasn't available early Thursday. NOPD spokeswoman Hilal Williams said that he approached a motorist, pulled out a gun and demanded the car.

The driver refused, Williams said. He pulled a gun out, fired it through the door and struck his attacker multiple times.

He died before paramedics could treat him, coroner's chief investigator John Gagliano said Thursday. Gagliano added that the man's identity may be available later this morning.

Why wouldn't you sit outside to enjoy the New Orleans ambiance?

"The coffee is strong at the cafe du monde, with doughnuts that're too hot to touch.

Just like a fool when those sweet goodies cool, I eat till I eat way too much."
