Ruger LCR .357
Finally got some trigger time with the Ruger polymer-frame .357 LCR revolver today with Hornady 158-gr .357 self-defense loads. Yeppers, it bucks a bit. But quite honestly it doesn't buck as much as metal-framed ultralight .357 snubs. The only consensus we could come up with is that the polymer frame is absorbing a portion of the short, sharp recoil impulse. It's not super pleasant to shoot with the heavy loads, but you don't get a snub as your primary range gun. And it's got the same superb DA trigger — the best on any snub I've ever handled, and I've handled a whole bunch.
If you're at all recoil-sensitive, I strongly suggest you chose the 17.1 ounce .357 over the regular 13.5 ounce .38, then shoot .38s in the heavier LCR. I shot 158-gr Hornady .38+P self defense loads in the .357 and it was controllable and painless. Regular .38s would be downright pleasant to shoot,. I'd kill to have one of these in .22LR (take note, Ruger...pleeeeeeeease...).
22LR and 22Mag, puleeeeze!
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for a .22lr version here.....maybe with a 3+" barrel and fiber-optic sights, plz?.....
ReplyDeleteTwenty-two? Nah. Ruger can reintroduce the SP in 22 with a set of REAL adjustable sights.
ReplyDeleteIt is time for someone besides Charter Arms to make a concealable snub 44 special. That's the LCR you need to be lobbying for.
I think that an SP101 in .44 Special would be a great carry-gun with a 2 1/2" barrel. I like my 2" .357 version and the 4" .22 LR. They may be heavy, but they're "Hell-for-strong"!

How was the revolver on the bottom of your trigger finger? One problem with my S&W 642 is after about 50 rounds of ammo I've warn a raw spot on the bottom of my trigger finger.
ReplyDeleteThe LCR .357 is a steel frame as I was told by the Ruger rep on the floor of the NRA show. It also says that it is steel on the Ruger web site.
ReplyDeleteI bet the next version will be in .327 Federal Magnum. That would give it a 6 round cylinder, and you can practice with .32 Long. (So do we now start calling .32 H&R Magnum a .32 Special?)
ReplyDeleteAfter that, a .22 WMR makes a lot of sense (7 rounds? Pretty please?)
.22LR--neat, but why? In case you're mugged by a squirrel?
Oops... I guess there already is a .32 Special.
ReplyDeleteDoes Ruger have any plans to offer the .357 LCR with Crimson Trace grips?
ReplyDeleteWhile the others nvbghaga hold small Oakley Frogskins are safer, for they are not so easy to fall over. However, the fact is Oakley Frogskin that the sizes of Cheap Oakley Sunglasses frame should be determined by each specific condition, because the pupil of both Oakley Jawbone should be kept in line with the optical center, so that their vision can be corrected to the most extent. Vision Oakley Jawbones of too big frame would lead to blur vision, dizziness and eye ache, while Oakley sunglasses of too small frame would affect the normal development of facial forms.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this article, quite effective data.
