Big Doin's in Gun Land

Couple of major news items in guNs this week:

- Ruger has released a 6.8 version of their gas piston SR556

- Zel Custom Manufacturing has introduced a magazine-fed .50 BMG bolt action upper for the AR

- The EPA is asking for public comments on their proposal to ban all lead ammunition, an action that would effectively end sport shooting in the U.S.

Details and links tomorrow...tired tonight...

  1. You shouldn't have done that piece from that lead contaminated wasteland on Best Defense! Seriously the EPA can eat Algore's shorts. There is more danger from libs Bull**** than there is from lead!

O'tay Michael, I need you to polish your crystal ball: With Ruger going with the 6.8 in their EBR, is the 6.8 round now the leading candidate for the up-calibered AR platform?

I'm interested in a larger bore poodle-shooter, but I don't want to buy into obsolescence -- yet again.

So is the mag sticking up like a
Bren gun or sideways like a Sten?
Cuz that 50 ain't going through an AR magwell without some real contortionist moves.

  6. My brother and I are very interested in custom manufactured gun, like the one introduced by Zel and other custom manufacturing companies. I'm sure my dad will be disappointed if the ban will take effect coz' he loves shooting sport. I'm curious to know the comments of others. Thanks for sharing the news!

  7. try banning lead wheel weights and see what the outcry is like at the tire shop. These short-sighted, agenda focused envirostasi drive me batty sometimes.

  8. I have a very, very bad feeling about the upcoming lame duck session. The Statists have flown under the radar WRT 2A, though I'm not sure why, as they have little regard for the other A's. Canceling out an entire type of behavior via regulatory fiat is entirely consistent with their modus operandi. Be prepared for lots of executive orders and riders on bills. B*O*H*I*C*A!

Truth, hate to break it to you, but there has been a drive to abandon the lead wheel weight for some time now. California HAS banned the lead wheel weight.

  10. For everyones information. I tracked down one of the organizations listed as petitioners.
    Association of Avian Veterinarians
    P.O. Box 811720
    Boca Raton, FL 33841
Head office in my hometown. I researched the address. It's a beachfront condo highrise. They don't even have an office!
Some woman in a High Rise is trying to deny us our rights. Sweet, Huh?

Looks like the EPA has quashed the request to ban lead in ammo. Maybe some Dems running for reelection raised hell with the WH thru backchannels?
