The Memory Hole

Nine years ago the United States was attacked by fanatics professing a particularly virulent strain of radical Islam. Almost 3000 of our countrymen, including hundreds of heroic first responders, were killed.

We have been at war ever since. We are still at war, regardless of what those who profess to "lead" us believe.

We will be at war until there is no enemy. Or there is no us.

Remember, because so many want us to forget.

  1. This war started long before 9/11/01.

Dandapani you hit it right on the head.

Orwell was a visionary. We seem to lose connection to all that has happened in the last forty years at least. I remember dealing with Iranian fanatics after the revolution there. The Marines killed in Beirut and dozens of other attacks aren't even remembered now.

I sense a weariness within this country to get back to seasonal mall shopping and housewives on reality TV shows.

We seem not to be at war. War is not war any longer. It has become something "other". Grab hold of millions across the world of 80 year olds and ask them what war means. Now we debate and hold hearings when a few civilians are injured or killed. Remember that we incinerated cities worth of civilians in furtherance of ending a war. The Japanese and Nazi machines were just as fanatical as today's Jihadists. Somehow, for some reason, we have become afraid or just weak.

I fear that before this is all over as MB suggests, we will lose much more than we have so far. Three thousand dead on 9/11. Five thousand dead and 15 thousand wounded servicemen and women. We are holding the tiger at bay. Our enemies are waiting. Bidding their time. Yet we struggle to build the needed resolve.

    Well stated Mr. Bane.

No comment can add depth to that so well stated.

God bless the men and women who man the wall everyday to protect us and our way of life.
though leadership is sometimes a challenge, the American fighting man remains the most capable competent and courageous force of good in the world.

  6. They pledged allah akbar as they flew our own technology into our great buildings, incinerating innocent civilians, our own. The political class whines about some guy burning a couple of paper books and refuse to see the symbolism of their building of a mosque of victory in our hallowed ground. Freedom is not free, and we are on the verge of giving it away. Pray for a good November.

  7. All I hear is our politicians saying "We are not at war with Islam". Sadly, certain factions are making war on us and the rest seem to give tacit approval of the Jihad against us. The only way we can survive the onslaught, short of starting a new Crusade,is to implement our military and intelligence resources to preempt any possible attacks on us. Our citizens need to be informed truthfully of the Radical Islamic threat and not lied to as is happening now. The term Radical Islamist needs to be defined. Where do American Muslims fit in? Are they for the U. S. Constitution or for Sharia law? Without some policy changes I am afraid there will be more 9/11's

I do not trust Muslims. They talk peace if you confront them, yet the radicals still get weapons and most of these radicals really could not blow their nose if brains were gunpowder. So where does the money come from,
    the Catholics ?,I think not.The Israel's ,I think not.The Protestants ,I think not.The Baptists ?, I think not. So who then ?
I don't trust Muslims . E-specially the peaceful ones that are smart enough to earn money.

"Wake up Muslims didn't make Tower 7 fall at free fall speed.
Towers just don't fall wake up. Coward"

You are correct in that "towers just don't fall".
The building may have to be hit with 100 or so acres of concrete and steel falling from 1300ft and then burn for about 6 hours.

While signing your name "Coward" may be appropriate as you know yourself better than anyone, may I suggest FRUITCAKE or MORON.

Michael, I'm apologize for slinging feces into the face of a twit in the comments of your great post. I just couldn't let Coward demean the loss of almost 300 of my firefighter brothers.
