I stumbled across this listed as an "Arabian proverb." Whomever thought it up, it rocks.
Most of the morning I finished setting up the DoubleStar C3...I already added an Aimpoint Micro co-witnessed with the BUIS (via a Daniel Defense mount). Today I finished up by bolting on a little piece of rail and adding a Streamlight TLR-2 high output light with a green laser and a single point sling.
Cool!
After a long, snowy hike with the Wonder Beagle, during which Alf was NOT attacked, molested, assaulted, bitten, threatened, nipped, mugged, etc., my Sweetie suggested, strongly, that since I was definitely in town, our weekly margarita fest be moved forward — not a word from you, Worsham!
I'm still experimenting with her favorite, and I think I may have reached the pinnacle — 1 1/4 ounce Milagro Anejo, 1 ounce Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, 1/4 ounce Triple Sec, 1 1/2 ounce lemon/lime juice (fresh squeezed, mixed 50/50). I challenge you to make this margarita and tell me that it is not the single best margarita you have ever tasted!
I'M THROWING DOWN THE TEQUILA GAUNTLET! Post your best margarita recipes, and we'll try the ones we like. In a totally arbitrary, unscientific and let's face it, completely unfair, biased and corrupt taste test, we'll pick a winner and give you one of them nice Streamlight TLR-2s...maybe in green, in you use limes instead of lemons.
So how about a Panteao DVD titled "Michael Bane does Margaritas Right"...

Heck, I probably should be sending Panteao money every month! Well, it was fun to make...Yost and I always have fun together, and the food in South Florida is excellent.

ReplyDeletePour 2oz of your fav tequila into a small class. Squeeze 1/4 lime into same class. Drink.
ReplyDelete1-1/2 oz. Gran Centenario Añejo
ReplyDelete3/4 oz Cointreau
1/2 to 1 oz. homegrown Mexican lime juice (to taste)
Vigorously shake the ingredients above over ice.
Pour into a large ice-filled salt-rimmed glass.
Top with a goodly splash of fresh seltzer.
I'm just not up on these hi-zoot, gourmet tequilas. When I get a wild hair for for that stuff it's usually Cuervo Gold, only decision is whether Sunrises or straight w/lemon or lime and salt....no worms in bottles is a hard rule...

ReplyDelete- Herradura Reposado.
- Cointreau to taste.
- (Optional) splash of homemade simple syrup* or Agave Nectar in a pinch.
- Fresh squeezed lime juice.
IMO, this reposado can stand on it's own without a sweetener, but it's great with the syrup too.
* Add 2 parts Zulka Mexican cane sugar to 1 part boiling filtered water. Stir until dissolved then cool and bottle.

Ingredients
6 clementines or 4 oranges, zested and juiced or 2 cups juice
1/2 cup water
2 limes, 1 juiced and 1 cut into slices, for garnish
6 ounces Patron Reposado
Directions:
In a small saucepan, combine the clementine zest with 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved, then turn off the heat and let cool.
Combine the juice from the clementines, the juice of 1 lime and the cooled simple syrup in a large pitcher with tequila.
Salt rim with 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tbsp kosher salt.
OK, Señor Bane, I just made yours. It's pretty good, I needed just un poco más dulce. I made a lemon/lime simple syrup 2:1 and it's very close. Science demands I research this further.
