Miss P, a 15-inch Beagle, sweeps Best of Show at Westminster! Newt, who looks uncannily like Miss P, is simply beside herself with joy. Miss P's great uncle is the legendary Uno, the greatest Beagle of them all. Newt herself is from
Windkist Kennels in Utah, one of the co-breeders of Uno and the breeder of Uno's father, Parker. The victory is especially sweet because today is Newt's birthday — she 1 year old!
Newt, of course, chose to follow the
Way of the Mountain Beagle and left the show world behind, but she sends her loud and hearty congratulations to Miss P!
So, Snoopy won. :)
ReplyDeleteOliver, the Super Beagle who lives with us (when he's not off chasing Evil Bunnies from our yard) is STILL Partying! : )
ReplyDeleteAs a reference, how big was Alf the Wonder Beagle?
ReplyDeleteSomewhere, Snoopy is doing his happy dance and Charles Schultz is smiling.
ReplyDeleteAlf was a 13-incher, but she actually grew to almost 14 inches. Newt is right at 13 inches...maybe a little above. As was Alf before her, Newt was slated for the show ring, but her breeder got busy with grandkids and agreed to let her go to us as a pet dog. Our breeder lobbied us to show Newt, but we have enough time-consuming expensive hobbies as it is.

ReplyDeleteALL HAIL NEWT!!
@gunfreezone: yeah, pretty much. :)
I'm still holding out for that special Golden to win B.I.S. so I can tell mine that if they applied themselves they could achieve greatness. ;)
(lot 'o luck on that sinking in)
Showing dogs is right there with racing cars or bikes...... a GIANT hole into which you place your $$$. But, man when they strut their stuff in the ring with you on the other end of the leash, what a rush. Longtime Siberian owner speaking.
ReplyDeleteHa first thing I thought of when I heard the news was Newt. I turned it off after the judge (quite erroneously in my opinion) overlooked the Rhodesian Ridgeback.
