Michael B Re-Cast

I went for "subtle..."

"Do not wait for a national audience. Speak on any scale open to you, large or small—to your friends, your associates, your professional organizations, or any legitimate public forum. You can never tell when your words will reach the right mind at the right time. You will see no immediate results—but it is of such activities that public opinion is made.” – Ayn Rand

    I didn't know such ornament existed - almost (almost) makes me want a cast. Ok, no, it doesn't. Still, if you have to have one, you can never go wrong with the skull motif. But with a skull, you need a good story: Uzis, a bus load of nuns, Hell's Angels, rappelling from a helicopter...

    Best of luck on the healing process, and keep those podcasts rolling!

    What now, Bane? I was waiting to read an update on your latest knee replacement and now this! So what did you do to yourself this time?

  8. It turns out when your body goes through something drastic, like a double knee replacement, your "balance engine," as it were, needs to reset, which takes a certain amount of time. Essentially, your body in space is not exactly where your inner ear and your brain think it is. I stepped backwards with my right leg, and, I, basically, stubbled and fell — neat trick, tripping over nothing at all. In the years of martial arts and apparently endless stupidity, I've gotten pretty good at falling...I tucked my chin to fall flat and protect my knees, but I couldn't quite get my left wrist clear...viola! A compression fracture along an old martial arts break that I never had set, because I was a Manly Man — read, idiot. It's cool...in the x-rays you can see the tiny fracture lines that everyone guesses came from years and years of recoil.

    It is what it is...I apparently am incapable of not pushing for that one damn bridge too far.

    I am under very specific orders to NOT DO ANYTHING BUT WHAT THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST TELLS ME TO DO!!!!! I am under orders to take naps and stay wired to the ice machine, because — how was I supposed to know this? — it turns out that you're supposed to have more than weekend's recovery time from surgery. Geeeez. And under NO FREAKING CONDITIONS PERIOD am I to shoot a boomer! Not even a .44 Magnum. I can, however, shoot a rifle ( which I will have to di with this cast for episode 1 of Season 17 of SHOOTING GALLERY, although both medical practitioner and physical therapist agree that I will look like a FREAKIN' WEENIE!

    As Edna St. Vincent Millay would no doubt say:

    My candle burns at both ends
    It will not last the night;
    But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
    It gives a lovely light.
