And you know who you are, don't you? I got my first balisong knife, a Jody Sampson/Pacific Cutlery classic, like 30 years ago...I cut myself about two minutes later! Michael Janich, whom you saw last week on SHOOTING GALLERY and is the head of Masters of defense/Blackhawk Blades, is also one of the great living experts on the butterfly knife, and he's done something extraordinary...he's designed a new one. Meet the "JaniSong," a bali you can't cut yourself with...and that may launch the balisong back into the realm of "tactical" blades. I gotta have one...no, make that two, of these! Available probbaly in March. |

Oh, Michael. You have rubbed salt in my wounds.
Last September, when I went home on leave, I had to forfeit my beloved Benchmade balisong--the knife which accompanied me to New Orleans and all through this deployment--simply because the guys at customs weren't sure whether it was legal to have them in the States. I BOUGHT IT IN THE STATES!!!
Oh well, lesson learned. Next time, smuggle it.
I like the video links, but it gets a little chaotic when I access or update the blog page. *All* the videos autostart, which gets a little cacophonic. I have to pause *each* playback to shut them up. Its tricky with three, it will be worse when there are 5 or 6 for the week. Suggest perhaps having a click thru link for the individual videos or configure them somehow not to be autostart.

I wonder if this is considered a gravity blade? Unfortunately where I live balisong knives are considered illegal. Not something you would want to be explaining if you used it in a defensive situation.
One more reason to live in Arizona.
Want an automatic knife? Go down to the store and buy one.
Want some Title 2 firearms, OK.
Pass the Federal checks and pick it up at your Class 3 FFL.
Now if I can find a way to tolerate this friggin summer heat.
I hate summer, but weather like now? :) :) :) :)
