Sarah Palin?

Life member of the NRA...serously pro-gun...an honest to goodness conservative...from Alaska, no less...good morning, Senator McCain...your running mate is here...visit the Draft Sarah Palin site and sign the petition before we get Mitt Romney shoved up our...well, never mind...

Agree 100%! Chance of that happening? 0%.

It would be worth it to see Hillary would flip her lid.

Romney would be bad enough, but rumor has it that McCranky also has Bloomberg on his short list.

Why do conservatives back Romney as if he were a conservative. The guy has been anti-tun for a while and during that same time McCain was voting against the AWB. One guy wants to ban and the other votes against a ban, but somebody thinks the gun grabber is conservative. That's just guns, forget abortion and gay rights.

Bloomberg is far too liberal. Pro-choice, pro gay rights, anti-gun, he's just way off the conservative reservation. McCain cannot afford to lose the conservative base by picking a liberal VP.

Picking Palin is (or it should be) a no-brainer for Team McCain.

I'll go so far as to say that McCain's election in November DEPENDS upon his picking Palin -- UNIQUELY the ONLY one who both energizes for McCain the conservative base AND the moderate/swing (formerly Dem) voter.

This is a very good idea. I'm still very unsure what I'm going to do in November -- the Dems are right out, but can I sign on to all McCain's B.S. and still live with myself? Yuck.

Leaning to "yes" (wrinkles nose) because of 2A and judges. Obama is that awful. McCain actually isn't bad on gun rights, except for his opposition to record-free private transactions at gun shows.

Nominating Gov. Palin as VP (and potential successor in 2012 to McCain, who's no spring chicken) would make me feel better about this ticket and this election.

No one casts their ballot for prez based on their VP selection.

The MSM would be critical of Palin since she is a first term guv and lacks experience.

That's rich! The MSM criticizing Palin's lack of experience while their running Obama for POTUS???!!!

Let em try.

After watching both McCain's and Obama's speeches on TV Tuesday night, McCain no less than NEEDS to run Alaska Gov Sarah Palin as his VP mate.

I like her. I like J.C. Watts a little better though. Has anyone heard about McCain talking to him?

Okay, I'll come out and say it...Anyone up for some cougar hunting in Alaska? When's Hef gonna do the "Women of the State Capitol" spread?

The only problem, I see is that it seems to be an eating your seed corn action.

If McCain picked Palin, how could he criticize Obama's lack of experience when his VP pick would suffer the same flaw? That's why he won't pick her. That whole "heart beat away" thing and all.

Bottom line, with Palin as VP, McCain WINS.

Without Palin, McCain likely does not win.

Case closed.

I do see the point of the "eating your seed corn" objection to picking Palin. It depends on whether you think McCain's goose is cooked regardless of what he does, or that he can win if he plays his cards right.

I'm lukewarm about McCain for a whole variety of reasons (though I'll probably end up voting for him, unless he pees on the Second Amendment between now and November).

But I do think he can win if he plays his cards right. '08 will be another squeaker.

Q&A How can McCain SIMULTANEOUSLY attract both Hillary AND Bob Barr voters? Answer: PALIN Veep!

A commenter on another post says it much better than I can:

"They say McCain reads the blogs, so here goes --

Senator McCain- Don't let the campaign kibbitzers muddle things up.

First and foremost, Sarah Palin shares your values. She killed the bridge to nowhere. Need we say more?

As for the politics, Sarah Palin transcends geography. Her constituency, like yours, goes beyond state lines.

She will get your ticket access to voters all over the country based on who she is and what she stands for. Because she's young, a woman, a mother with young kids, she will grab media attention more than any other potential candidate.

Gov. Palin also has a son in the active duty military. You have very wisely taken your son's service in Iraq off the table as a campaign talking point. That is and should be respected. But others can talk about it and reflect on what it means.

A McCain-Palin administration would be the first in memory which has family members in uniform during wartime from both the President and Vice President. That would be a powerful statement as to the importance of national service, especially in uniform.

Most importantly, any Vice President should be ready to step up and serve in the event she is needed. Frankly, who is really ever ready? Gov. Palin is as ready as anybody, she is a quick learner, and in her public career has exhibited the courage and decisiveness needed for a great leader.

Godspeed to you in your campaign and in making this important decision."

I can see it all now, Alaska Gov Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd, introducing Sarah as the next Vice President of the United States at the Republican National Convention later this summer, to the tune of Shania Twain’s “She’s Not Just a Pretty Face”.

Here it is:
