Perfect Christmas Movie!

"There's a saying in prize-fighting...everybody has a plan until they get hit."

-- Charles Remington (Michael Douglas)
"The Ghost and the Darkness"

I made a special trip to the Field Museum in Chicago to see the Ghost and the Darkness...a little tatty, but think of it as a mandatory stop on the Grand Tour of our culture...

That is one of my favorite movies. It's Hollywood with the Remington parts & a coupl other issues but it is old time adventure epic type movie. Did you read Patterson's book about the Tsavo lions it's pretty good first hand experince of the hunts. Matter of fact some of the Chapstick books are really good books I read them all probably have to go back & reread them.

A true giant of cinema. The film won an Academy Award in 1997 for Best Sound Editing.

Have read Patterson's book a couple of times, and all of Capstick. Once had a tryly bizarre conversation with Capstick when he was living in Sarasota for some medical procedure...he'd built a blind in his back yard and was lying in wait for palm rats...

Arggh...
