The Narrative The Narrative The Almighty Narrative!!!

This sophomoric display of anal drippings is from the morning HuPo, Sanjay Sanghoee (who is, BTW, a "thriller writer..." :

Now consider what would have happened in that situation if all New Yorkers were armed. With more guns in the mix and more citizens deciding to take matters into their own hands, many more shots would have been fired, and if the professionals themselves could miss their target and shoot innocent bystanders instead, you can imagine how ordinary citizens, most of them with only amateur shooting experience, would have done a hell of a lot more damage. In the madness that would have erupted, a simple take-down of a suspect by police would have turned into a modern day shootout at the OK Corral. Anyone who believes that a scenario like that would have resulted in fewer casualties is patently insane.
Speaking as one of the "patently insane," have you ever noticed how patently stupid people repeated bring up the OK Corral as an example of what might happen but never does? I wonder if Sanghoee's relentless lack of originality and insight are reflected in his novels?

Yeah yeah, now I'll get emails from MSM leftist apologists (a.k.a. "shills") asking why I so quickly resort to "ad homenim," personal attacks. Here's a quick answer -- there is no point to arguing with either the mentally challenged or outright liars. Why are we supposed to pretend our blood enemies have "reasoned arguments" when all they do is spew talking points that are repeatedly shown to be untrue? Sanghoee's entire argument can be boiled down to, "Gee, if the police are this crummy with their guns, imagine how hela-crummy civilians might be, which us why we have to take away their guns like immediately!"

My cat can make a better argument than that, yet we're all supposed to pretend this drivel is thoughtful, reasoned discourse. Nope, it's exactly the same substance said cat leaves in his box.

The best comment I've seen on the NYC police shooting comes from a commenter on Tam's View From the Porch blog:

"Jim Cirillo weeps."

Read Tam's whole post, BTW..it is actually thoughtful discourse.

Anybody, including law enforcement that displays such piss poor shooting habits on the streets should not have a gun.I preach to people all the time that as responsible gun owners we must assume the responsibility that goes along with gun ownership and learn safe firearms handling procedures. BUT NO!!!! Most people want to do as little as possible, obtain a carry permit and take to the streets. Clearly the lack of training on behalf of law enforcement has made it's face known in this incident.

Law enforcement should be abiding by the same "rule" that anybody else does in the fact that we know our target and what is beyond.

What bullshit!!
What the asshats don't get is that the civilians could have stopped the prick when he killed his coworker.
CCW holders aren't on the street looking to take down criminals. They have the ability to stop the threat when he first makes his intentions known, except of course in Bloomie's peaceful paradise.

I shot more in my USPSA match today than most cops do all year. Tell me again how they're better trained?

We should all remind those "thoughtful" individuals that Tombstone was a gun-free zone.

My first thought was that Bloomy Snoplow needed to institute more training for his law enforcement... the buck stops with the boss, no? more ranges in NYC...

Lately I have taken to referring to anti-gunners, that by the way is anyone with odd ideas about firearms related regulations - not just gun banners, as being prejudiced. It is actually a correct use of the term as folks on the anti-gun side of the line do not know what they are talking about.. As such then what they say becomes hate speech based upon a reasonable understanding of the term. Also they believe that the reasonable middle ground lies between owning what you want and some level of restriction. This is incorrect. The middle lies between being forced to own, carry and show proficiency with a variety of firearms, including machine guns, and a total ban. That being the case holding the position of allowing people to choose what they do and do not want own is the middle ground. Right now we are pretty far left of center. If anti-gunners want reasonable gun laws, particularly knowing more firearms save more lives verses the current anti-gun position, then they will have to come far more right in their thinking.

I helped a ten year old with her first shooting experience yesterday and she did better than most cops I know!

Like most SASS shooters, I could compete twice a month and practice once a week at local ranges.

My local police qualify ONCE-A-YEAR!

Who is more "experienced" with firearms?

I CCW every day.

My brother in law was a cop and he needed to qualify once in a year. He & I would go up in the back country of New York's Catskills to a property he owned and shoot pistol targets like what he'd see at the qualifying range. He was the worst shot I had seen, who even at short range couldn't even hit paper. I helped him with his stance and grip. In his .357 S&W we'd use .38's to keep the recoil down for pratice just to get some success. He'd improve enough to qualify but never practiced so the follwing year it was the same thing all over again.

He'd be called the professional & I the amateur but I put more time into shooting in a month than he probably ever did in his entire career. I can only speak for what I had experince with and at least for him it was a gift from God that ne never had to pull that pistol.

Saturday, I took my kids to the range. Several local cops were there as well practicing for the annual qualifications. They were stunned that my 13 YO daughter could out shoot them from the "lower ready" position with .40 S&W. She did just as well as they from the holstered draw. The more telling fact - my daughter started shooting my center fire 6 months ago.

I think the NYC display is a pretty sad statement on police capability.

I'm always amazed at the OK corral argument, too. It shows a gross misunderstanding of history. I'm not aware of any casualties incurred beyond the individuals involved in the actual gunfight.

That elderly gent who cleaned the robbers out of that cybercafe should be hired to teach NYC how to shoot under stress without injuring bystanders.

Also note how news coverage of the New York City shooting got suppressed, just as soon as it was learned that most of the casualties were the result of the police opening fire?

I wonder if the shooter was inspired by the current anti-business, anti-rich, anti-success retoric that's currently popular?
