As per my testimony to the Colorado Legislature, effective today (21 March 2013) all filming sessions for SHOOTING GALLERY, THE BEST DEFENSE, RAPID FIRE, GUN STORIES and special projects for DOWN RANGE Television have been rescheduled and moved out of Colorado.
BTW, I am NOT Outdoor Channel; I am an independent producer for Outdoor Channel (and my views do not necessarily reflect the views of OC...you know the drill). When things go viral, they don't necessarily go verbatim.

Dear Michael,
Texas is really photogenic.
Love Texas.
Come to GA
Come to WI. We'd love to have you!
I you find a better place and more 2A friendly state. Hope you don't have to move too far. Keep up the great shows on Outdoor Channel.
Michael you are the man! You are welcome here in Florida as well. Just shoot me an e-mail.
Will you also stop filming in California?
As a Coloradan, I hate to see this happen, but you made that promise, and you need to stick by it. Go to New Mexico!
Michael, I admire you for your stand, and applaude you for it as well. Your excellent show will still be as wonderful as it was or would have been IF some things were filmed in Colorado, but until their Leaders in Government come to their senses and change their new laws, there are 49 other states chomping at the bit for your show to come to them. Keep up the good work, and keep your powder dry.
Bob Bednarcik
Tennessee would love to have you back here. Hard to find a more 2A friendly state, and Nashville sure could use a part-time music critic who's head is not up his rear-end.
Hey Michael film in SD blackhills & badland area and visit us at Wall drug store we like to see you in person take care stay safe
Joseph
Great job standing behind your words, Michael. It gives them real weight when you follow through. So sorry it had to come to this, but you know you are always welcome down here in Arizona. -- The Wilderness
New Mexico is very nice!
be sure you send hickenlooper & co your production receipts.
thank you, michael.
Why on earth would Magpul move to a state that
1. Voted for Obama
2. Has a state income tax
3. Is not a right to work state
Magpul you will never have to look over your shoulder in Texas, just increase production.
Good for you for making good on your promise. What the heck has happened to Colorado? First the weed thing, now the anti 2A sentiments. Too many Californians move there?
Thank you Michael Bane for standing by your convictions.
God bless you and yours sir and especially Alf.
They must be removed from office.
Oklahoma is nice and red though and though.
Nebraska is still gun friendly, a short drive away and the home of the likes of Cabela's, Hornady, and Cylinder & Slide. We'd love to have you visit (frequently).
Of course Wyoming is even friendlier, more scenic, and also nearby.
Come to Kansas We'd love to have you!
Come to Louisiana, we have the best food and Jerry Miculek.
Wouldn't make sense to move operations here, but Alaska would make a great road trip.
Well, you can't drive the guns through Canada, so ferry or plane trip.
Anyway, Denali is calling.
i'd invite you to vermont, we're pretty free up here. no permits required or issued. but we're surrounded by massachusetts and new york, both restrictive states you'd have to pass through to get here, and canada, to our north is even worse.
You love Rockcastle. Rockcastle would love to have you. Therefore, move to Kentucky (Logic 101).
And that way I could come to your tapings.
Plus, you know you would love a big ol' farm of rolling bluegrass where you could set up your own range.
You know...Florida is awful nice. Just see Rob Pincus's new FB background photo
Kansas is a gun friendly state and we are close by. Come on over!
Come to Kansas. We are a gun friendly state and we are very close.
Thank you for more that spouting principles. Thank you for standing firmly upon them.
I like gunner's comment above.. we in Maine, NH and Vermont are the last dwindling island of Second Amendment Freedom in the Northeast.. unfortunately, more and more pilgrams from the gun free zones that blockade us to the south and west (with canada to the north and our backs against the ocean to the east)are moving here and bringing their progresso-repressive metrosexual politics with them... The blumby pressure is on in Maine, so I am not very trusting of our new democrat leadership in our house and senate.. the only thing standing between us and disarmament is republican Governor LePage who will veto any nonsense.. but he won the governorship in a three person race, garnerning 39 perccent of the vote, so a repeat in 2014 is far from a sure thing.. I am starting to think about that acre in Wyoming myself.
Kansas is right next door :)
I wouldn't mind having you come back up to North Idaho... *hint hint*
Last time you were here I didn't get a chance to actually meet you, even though I was 2 feet away, you were busy filming... I did like being on the Shooting Gallery though if only as a passing character.
(Watch the Boomershoot episode again... I'm the guy on the far right as you intro the high intensity looking pissed off. It's not that I hate you or anything, exhaustion was setting in and I knew we had hours left to go. I am one of those people who just constantly look angry unless I'm laughing.)
Eastern WA has some nice views and plenty of shooters too.
Michael,
Come to ALASKA!
It's what America USED to be!
Yog
Michael, I wanted to do two things in Colorado for a long time (I am in my 60's). One was ski some of the Big Ones the other was go elk and or muley hunting. New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming will now get my deflated dollars and governor Hiccup can suck a lemon. Moved out of Ca to NC because Ca was getting too nutty. NC is pretty gun friendly and we just elected a good Governor but Texas is starting to sound like the Lifeboat state. keep up the great shows but please get them to move The Best Defense back to before 10PM EST.
I could have sworn I'd posted here... anyway, thank you for being a man of your word-- no surprise there. What I can't figure out for the life of me is why CO has become the CA of the Rockies; further, why she shooting sports continue major shoots in either states. I here Les Baer like IA quite a bit, sleeps better at night.
There are some wonderful places in Kentucky to shoot both guns and film.
Come to Alaska!!! We like guns and understand their purpose!!
Please come to Californ... oh yeah. Never mind.
You cannot go wrong in Ohio.. Lovely this time of year for Best Defense.
South Carolina is waiting for you!
You've been in AZ lots of times. Come back, we welcome pro RKBA folks with open "arms".
Or Louisiana. We are probably the gun-friendliest state in the Union. Both Duck Dynasty and Swamp People film here, and there's lots of guns.
Michael,
I was surfing the web when I came across this screed about the boycott ...
http://www.denverpost.com/willoughby/ci_22757145/willoughby-boycotting-colorado-hunting-fishing-makes-no-sense
Ten I had to hang my head and get to FaceBook on my mobile device only to discover there are MANY FB pages dedicated to the boycott idea but none of them has much reach ... thoughts?
As someone who has grown up in and subsequently married into a hunting family I am disgusted that you would put the inconvenience of licensing and background checks above the safety & welfare of children, the general public and even other hunters. In canada everyone needs appropriate training and documentation to purchase firearms and ammunition, and even to transport these items. these laws have never caused problems with hunting trips etc and they have resulted in me not having to be fearful of my children going to school or that my family will be sharing the field with people who should not be carrying guns because they put others at risk. I am disgusted that people are putting convenience ahead of the protection of our children. Hunting is an amazing sport requiring great skill and respect to be done in a responsible manner but it is just a sport, not a requirement for survival in most places in north america in this day and age. Protecting children is a requirement in my mind and part of being a responsible, respectful citizen.
Anonymous,
Note that neither licensing nor expanded background checks, per our own government, can be expected to actually have any effect on crime or public safety.
Refer to the recent DOJ memo, the only way to actually enforce expanded background checks is with universal registration of all firearms. Note that, by SCOTUS ruling, such a registration cannot include penalties for prohibited persons for not registering their guns, as to do so would violate their 5th Amendment rights.
Further, since you bring up Canada, note that they recently voted to get rid of their decade old, 2 billion dollar or so, long gun registry. The RCMP admitted during testimony that neither that registry, nor their older handgun registry, directly resulted in the solving of any crimes. The longer-standing and as expensive handgun registry did contribute corroborating evidence in four (4) cases, which hardly seems to justify its cost or "inconvenience."
Just because the proposed laws sound good, doesn't mean they have a chance in hell of accomplishing anything, and passing laws so we can simply feel better is puerile, regardless of how minor the inconvenience.
Good riddance. 2 can play at your game ... no more of your shows on our tv.
Florida has some pretty locations! Maybe Colorado's stupid loss could be our gain! God Bless you for taking a stand!
I have contacted TX Governor Rick Perry, US Senator John Cornyn, US Senator Ted Cruz, and US Congressman Randy Neugebauer, and suggested they invite filming to Texas, where we are a pro-gun state, with lots of land and opportunity for some great filming. Please come to Texas!
