SHOT Storm...

...incoming. I'm almost almost packed, except now I have to unpack and repack to fit in all the stuff I left out in the first run-through. My shooting glasses seem to have gone to the moon or one of the outer planets, because they certainly don't seem to be anywhere in the Bunker.

BTW BTW, Marshal and I would like to know what you'd like us to take a look at. Obviously, we'll shoot the little Glock .380 (which I fully expect will feel exactly like shooting a Glock!), the striker-fired Sig 320, and the Remington R51 mini-9. The cowboy in me thrills to the new Winchester 1873 with a color casehardened receiver...although I already bought my T&E '73 from last year. Let's not forget the S&W 69 .44 Magnum (want...lust...must have!) and the FNH AR platform guns.

Of the SG Usual Suspects, Iain's all spun up on the S.W.O.R.D. .338 semi (didn't Bushmaster show one of these a few years back when Skip Patel was with the company?). Di Liedorff will be busily lining up new 3-Gun sponsors since she's left Team FNH. John Snow will probably be haunting precision rifle booths, and Sara Ahrens will probably be hanging out at Beretta.

So what do you guys want us to write about/video at SHOT 2014?

The new 1-4x from US Optics and the custom cut hand guards for the AR.

Michael, I'd like you to mosey on over to the Remington booth and ask them politely "What the @#$% have you done to Marlin?"

I own several pre-Rem Marlin levers, and would really love 3 or 4 more Marlins, mainly a 1894 SS .44 Mag. It's been too long since there's been quality Marlins available for sale new. I will be extremely disappointed if they kill off such a storied brand through their hubris and incompetence.

How about .22lr and gun powder availability?

I'm with Anonymous 11:43--WTH is the .22 LR and is it ever coming home?

Not enough time to cover the obvious things. Spend a little time on the things that really excite you or that are really different for better or worse. More time on new wide range variable optics with big tubes and wild reticule designs. Also if you shop for new shooting glasses tell us about frames, lens material and especially colors and focus to include sight focus in the master eye and target focus in the off eye.

How about touching base on any new or updated SBRs out there?

Thanks for running the show floor for us Michael. Love to hear about the PPQM2 in .22. Is it a walther product,or typical Umarex ... quality ;). When with the 5" PPQM2 oin 9 be available in quantity? How about the avalanche of vaporware from Caracal? What is real, and when? Will the R51 be in stainless for those of us who sweat? When can we expect the XDS 4.0 to be on the shelf?

How about a realistic review of the Arsenal pistol out of Russia/Italy, without the superlative marketing tag lines? How is it in the hand? What do you think about the trigger?

I'm interested in new accessories for the AK

Michael, I started a thread asking forum members what they might have heard rumored might be coming out at SHOT so you could check it out. I want to hear about the RRA ss 1911 with the STI type frame.

Thanks
Richard

PS: That thread sorta got sidetracked!

I'm with anonymous re:22lr. Also with Uno Mas about Marlin. I really, really want a mini-14 in 300blk, so if you could convince them to do that it would be great

Check and see if the looooooong wait for the M&P SIRT was worth it.

Well, since you asked...

Ruger American Rimfire .22 rifle
Ruger GP100 Match Champion Revolver
Styer LA-1 pistol
FLIR One iPhone Case
Whatever strikes your fancy in EDC knives

And finally, maybe a little behind the scenes look at whatever Crye Precision has cooked up for their annual after hours race/competition.

Thanks! And good luck.

Ask the powder companies when reloading powders will be back on the shelves.. The powder shelves have been bare for a year.. Same goes for primers..

David said...

I'd like to know the ammo outlook for the next year, especially .22LR and .223/5.56.

And I am with the others who requested info on the scarcity of powder and primers for reloading.

See if Kel-tec comes up with a cool unique new gun (that they won't be able to manufacture in volume-arghhh).

Rastus said...

Please ask VLTOR about the Bren Ten. What's up with it?

Then I second the FLIR One iPhone Case.

And agree that we should know if Marlin will be around? Maybe you should enlighten them about the tactical options of a lever action where AR's are not allowed. I don't travel any of those areas by air usually...but if I did an OEM breakdown model (stock, action, barrel/tube) would be good to carry around.

rastus said...

Because the squeaky wheel gets the grease, shake up VLTOR on why there is no Bren Ten.

Maybe they can't get mags? HA!

One more to the list...Burris Optics. I love their MTAC 1.5 x 6...except that I don't like the 1.5 so much. The lowest power setting should be 1.0x which is not available with a light gathering 42mm objective...who needs a 24mm objective in 1x by 4x except as a lower cost option? I have run my MTAC in LAV's carbine class and it was great..except for the 1.5 that did slow me down on close shots...otherwise it was great and performed flawlessly at 100, 200 & 300 yd ranges.

When will Remington bring out the All American Rimfire in .22lr with a threaded muzzle?

Ask Remington why they didn't grow a pair
And leave New York over the safe act ? Others have!

I want to know who leaves with whom at the end of the 'after' party. You know the expression "What happens in Vegas stays on the global interweb for EVER"

The Glock 380 results will be interesting. Not a huge Glock fan, but for the grip, but will be anxious to see how it tests out compared to a Bersa or Sig P238. Have fun!

I'd like to see something on the two new S&W revolvers in 9mm.

I'm with RickP who wants to know more about Next Level Training's SIRT pistol on the M&P frame. I've held off getting one waiting for this.

Given you went to Africa this year, I'd love to hear about any new rifles for hunting either the Big 5 or plains game.

Finally, any lever action rifles in .38/.357 beyond the Rossi 92.

Thanks and have fun!

Anything new from HK on the pistol front, either striker fired or not?

Will Colt ever reintroduce the Bisley? Preferably in .44 Special.

Greg Tag said...

Michael:

Buttonhole the folks at Colt - Will we see the return of the Python or the Detective Special or DS-II?

Such a thing has been rumored and hinted at and much wink-wink, but nothing solid.

Make them swear.

Desert Tech bullpup, EAA polymer 1911, the Walther booth to see how the US expansion is coming and what the news is on the 5" PPQ (including an M1 version), and the HK booth to see anything they have!!!!

I'd really like information on pistol caliber carbines. My wife cannot handle a handgun and we need something useful for her to use for defense at home. Shotguns scare her, so a pistol caliber carbine makes the most sense. But I hear very little about them unless it is a manufacturer's release. I'd really like some 'using' information so we can make a purchase decision. Thanks much!

Give them all a heads-up about this: http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/jan/15/harvey-weinstein-and-meryl-streep-making-movie-att/
And tell them to not let their guard down.

If you don't already "avoid" Hollywood productions and over-priced movie tickets: Start boycotting Harvey Feinstein and Meryyl Streep movies. If yo don't know what they're about to try to do TO YOU, read Joe's note above and follow his link.

Also listen to the "show" that Feinstein launched his attack on, for the hypocrisy he practices and why he would get a gun, after taking all of your! You can read about and listen to that here: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/01/15/major-hollywood-producer-vows-to-make-the-nra-wish-they-werent-alive-with-upcoming-big-movie/

@Life...you obviously have "Commie anti-gun liberal derangement syndrome"...LOL...confusing Diane Feinstein and Harvey Weinstein.... BTW speaking of movies, I saw "Lone Survivor" last nite. Highly recommend it. I thought it was a good solid portrayal of modern sandbox combat and proud warriors who do the unimaginable on our behalf. God Bless all our troops wherever they are across the globe or when they served.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, NJ'. ; )
They are the same person, aren't they? After-all, have you ever seen them together? I've only seen them "alone", unless they're at their master's (a.k.a.: B-HO) table.
