Here's a couple of reviews, one from my buddy Jeff Quinn at GunBlast, the other from AMERICAN RIFLEMAN. It has been around a couple of years, which is why there are used ones floating around at good prices. I saw Wiley at SHOT, and he was still waxing poetic about the gun. Kind of a good compromise between the SP101 I have and a full-sized gun. Just a thought.
Ruger GP-100s are one of 3 things that would be left after a total global nuclear war, along with cockroaches and Keith Richards. They're pretty much totally indestructible, shoot better than they have any right to and are even relatively inexpensive. Ideal for the Project.
Of course, it could be I'm just punchy from shoveling snow.

Why the Wiley and not a new GP100 Match Champion? Just the good prices?
I concur. I find myself lusting after a Match Champion myself. It is a slightly bigger gun, but I think an inch of barrel length is negligible, if pocket carry isn't a concern.
I have had a GP100 for 15 years or so. Have shot thousands of rounds through her, and she has never let me down. She would be in the running in the "if I could only have one gun" scenario!
GP100's are reputed to be easy to work on too, which is definitely not the case for S&W revolvers.

As with an outboard motor...ALWAYS... have an extra sheer pin on hand. Beats the heck out of the shovel and sore back.
And no blasted infurnal unpredictable downrite dangerous internal lock.
I've got a sack of sheer pins, but I was at the top of the driveway and the sun was going down, I was cold, FILL IN THE BLANK excuse...I'll go replace the pin today while it's sunny.
Overload & BaldEagle, THANK YOU for reminding me to engage brain! I have a Match Champion in house for T&E, and there is NO DOUBT that I will buy it.In fact, just dry firing it game me an urge to shoot ICORE again.
I too think the extra inch of barrel is no big deal. If you want to carry it concealed, there's always Brian Hoffner's amazing Mirage holster:

I have a Mirage for a 4-inch N-Frame, and it works. I'll get a Blade-tech belt holster as well...
