The Massive Sorting Process

It's like doing an archeological dig on a terminal ADD patient...I ended up throwing out t-shirts from dozens of triathlons, assorted marathons including New York, 3 Iditasports, swim caps from my 3 Alcatraz Triathlon finishes, a bunch of long-distance bike rides, including the Cross Florida, the Tour of the California Alps Death Ride, Ride the Rockies, and on and on. Then, as long as I was on a tear, I tossed decades of magazine articles I wrote, including about a billion gun articles for HANDGUNS, GUNS & AMMO, SHOTGUN NEWS, GUNS, GUN WORLD, AMERICAN HANDGUNNER and all the episodes of GUN GAMES I edited. I'm sure the landfill will be fascinated!

I am amazed — well, not really — that the usual brain dead responses from our enemies on the Santa Barbara shootings — we need magazine restrictions, waiting lists, assault weapons bans, all the stuff we already have in California...

I think it's indicative of the desperation on the part of the other side. They have lied one too many times, and there's nothing left but waving the bloody shirt.

The only upside of the CA tragedy is it's shows the anti gun crowd for what they are...they have run out of lies, all they have left is stupidity. Writers like Clayton Cramer and John Lott have covered the facts.

Heh, going through that same process myself: Why, oh why do I have a half-dozen Grams Engineering magazine springs and followers for a .40 caliber Limited gun, when I don't even own anything in .40 caliber? Add in 10 years of negatives and slides from my photography days, and the triage process can get quite lengthy.

I use event T-Shirts as a way for me to remember events. As they get old I toss them in a bag. I've read about places that will take t-shirts and make them into a quilt. I don't take many pictures, and ticket stubs are going away, so these are memories I revisit every time I get dressed.

MB- 3 of the victims were killed by a knife.
-was it an assault knife?
-did it have a saw on the spine?
-a hollow handle?
-a compass on the butt?
-a serrated or partially serrated blade?
-a camo'd blade?
-a kydex sheath?
-a sharpening stone?
You know, knives never jam or need reloading. Quick, help our government save us from this new threat before it's too late.

You know those bicyclists didn't care if the maniac had a knife or gun.
That freaking BMW left a mark!!

As a lifelong California resident and gun owner, I can assure all that you are 100% correct about our gun laws - we have nearly every restriction on the anti-gun wish list. Our laws are so restrictive that Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed several new restrictions as unconstitutional. That really says something.

Why didn't they do any good at all? Simple, the entire mental health system failed. I spent a decade in EMS - working in the Bay Area and Southern Cal. I am familiar with hold mental health holds work, because I transported hundreds if not thousands of people under their authority. Had the police done their job and looked at the videos before contacting this murderer they almost certainly would have placed him on a 5150 hold. That alone triggers a 5 year gun ban in CA. Additionally, my guess is that this man would have been committed, triggering a federal lifetime ban and preventing him from running people down with his car and killing them with knives as well.

@2savage-- a hammer, and a machete. The other weirdness; if he was so angry cuz wimmen knew a freak when they saw him, therefore no trim for him, why did he kill _4 guys_ out of 6 victims? Michael's right, the publicity chums the monster out into the open....

I wonder if that assault knife had the "shoulder thing that goes up"?
