I don't usually do this, but it's for a good cause and my friend and supershooter Todd Jarrett asked me to, so take a look at the new Para USA single stack PXT-1911 SSP and the hi-cap PXT P14•45 Gun Rights models.
Yeah, they're really great 1911s, with all the happy trick stuff everybody wants — competition fire control packages, fiber optic fronts, etc. Check out the whole package here and here.
The reason I'm posting it on the blog, however, is that a portion of the bucks from each of these guns goes to the NRA-ILA, which is a Very Good Thing.
You owe it to yourself to check it out!

I shot the PXT-1911 SSP recently. Very, very nice. I wanted to give up my Wilson CQB for it, but I didn't say it because I was afraid my friend would say OKAY!
mike can u get me one please
What is it with these beavertails and flat mainspring housings? The curved mainspring was added in 1924 and I don't think JMB would go for that beavertail in a million years...
Beavertails and flat mainspring housings: I'd hazard that both are a result of the two-handed, thumb on the safety technique of shooting. The beavertail keeps our oversized, plump, girly-man hands from being chewed up by the slide and hammer as we grip the piece higher than in JMB's time. The flat mainspring housing aids in depressing the grip safety, which can otherwise be missed with a high thumb hold.
Hmmm... Too bad I just put the finishing touches on my own FrankenPara Limited div pistol. These look mighty fine to me.

I'm making the transition from europellet 9mm (ahem I'm a skinny 19 year old girl, not a toughguy)
yet I'm relcutant to give up an ammo load > or = to 13 rounds per mag.
So...this para hicap looks tempting to me, so beyond the NRA-ILA bonus here....does para-ord make a reliable product?
btw, I'm mostly concerned with a piece that goes 'bang' when I mash the trigger, as opposed to a 'badass' piece that goes 'click'.
Hmmm. I guess it might be okay for people with large hands, which leaves me out. A double-stack 1911 feels like a 2x4 in my paws. I'll stay with my single stack 1911, if you please.

A bit off-topic, perhaps, but I've been thinking in overdrive ever since the the fit hit the shan last weekend over Zumbogate... How best to help the cause? Spread the word? Check - was doing that anyway, trying to recruit to NRA and TFA (TN Firearms Assoc.). Take rookies to the range to shoot? Check, also doing that anyway. Voted? Yes. Letters to congress? Ditto. Hmmm.. Aha!
BUY MORE GUNS! HK Tactical, FN 5.7, stripped AR lower (I needed a project) and a beta-mag for good measure. Madame Speaker can eat me to death.
This concludes my small rant; you will now be returned to your normal blogosphere... Joe in TN
