A Little Bit of Good News Today

This is from Kurt Schlichter at Townhall.com speculating that our enemies may have lost control of the narrative. The NRA's demand for armed guards in schools, David Gregory's violating for D.C. laws on possession "high-capacity" magazines, the repeated death threats aimed at NRA members and gun owners in general, the calls for the abolition of the Second Amendment and the confiscation of guns, the sheer hysteria of the political Left, the realization by anyone with an IQ higher than an average gerbil that noe of the snake oil being peddled by the Left will actually do anything but strip American citizens of their rights, all are making the gun banners' case a harder and harder sell:
Demonizing those who support gun freedom was always intended as a weapon to silence them. It was also critical that we, law-abiding gun owners, become the Other. By dehumanizing us and painting us as evil, it is that much easier to strip us of our rights. But gun freedom advocates fought back. Using the mainstream media, conservative media and especially social media – we need to understand its huge significance here – gun freedom advocates countered liberals’ bogus “facts.” Media reports about “automatic” weapons were corrected, clownish statements about “high caliber magazines” and “large capacity round” were mocked. The struggle raged over millions of Facebook posts. The average citizen saw gun banners ask “When will America control access to weapons?” and then saw several experts among his or her friends post about the significant hurdles one needs to get over to get a gun. Truth bypassed the mainstream media and became a weapon for the side of fundamental rights.
We're not out of the woods by any means, buts the fight is engaged, and it's up to us, We the People, to push toward victory.

posted this late on an earlier MB blog....

There's a Petition supporting 2A on We the People of the White House web page. Looks like it can use a ton of signature help....

Hey, Micheal; I'm trying to engage as much as possible. This the worst I've seen it since '68, or '94. What positive action can anyone out there suggest? I'm writting my Congress-critters, but I live in the People's Democratic Republic of Maryland. Heh. My "Representitive" is Steny Hoyer. (headbanging on wall)

  3. I disagree with the petition linked to above. There is no need to enforce the current laws on the books, because almost all of them violate the right enumerated in the 2nd amendment. This is a better petition: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/not-infringe-upon-2nd-amendment-rights-instituting-any-new-form-firearms-ban-legislation-or/v4TVyn8w

  4. Education is important right now. Liberal cousin of mine and I had discussing this morning. He says guns are OK and people are OK with guns just not assault weapons which "have no purpose" and that they were banned by the 1968 GCA and now exist by a loophole. He also spouts that there is a gunshow loophole. I held my ground and offered that he can have his opinion but that we cannot have discourse unless it is based on truth which is common to all.

One of the worst things is that the gun control people have wrapped a portion of truth inside a lie...very insidious. Which is why I say we cannot have discourse until we have truth As my liberal cousin began to hear the truth with authority I could discern he was losing faith in his liberal sources....very important that the lies be destabilized and identified as lies from liars.

Also, it enlightening to see this discourse is being pushed into a box of "assault weapons" or "weapons with no purpose" and that Fudd guns and handguns appear to get a free ride in this go around.

Another thing...and it disquieted my liberal cousin, is that people need to know the single most popular gun in the US is the AR and that it is used for hunting and self-defense. This is a powerful point to slip in as you debate the truth. First properly bring to question the leftists lies then add more truth.

    Just my 2 cents.

  5. @Rastus. My father in-law was "disarmed" when I told him that ARs are used for hunting, and further "disarmed" when I told him in some states it was legal to hunt with ARs without mag-capacity restrictions.

One of the hardest barriers to penetrate is the self-defense/sporting-use myth. Many think its archaic that one would need weapons to protect themselves from their government. Mention Nazi Germany, and they act like you're crazy. I guess they will wise up with the Feds try a few no-knock Obamacare raids; maybe not.

  6. Michael, have a look at this. I think this is probably the most eloquent synopsis of the situation I have read to date:
