Here's a Thought for Tonight...

…all I wanted to do was cook. I did my own lasagne recipe with tomatoes we grew during the summer.      Wish I had some fresh venison sausage, but so it goes. My Sweetie made Italian bread, and flying in the face of convention I served it with a unoaked NZ chard. That's the kind of guy I am, dancing right out there on the edge. White with Italian! Dai! Pretty gutsy, n'est pas? Also had bagna calda, slow roasted garlic in olive oil with anchovies.

Changed hiking guns this weekend. I've been carrying my EDC Glock G26 on the dog walk, but B'rer Bear is in the neighborhood. With the fresh snow, it's easy to see he's been all over the place…walking around the Bunker, up and down the driveway, up and down Newt's Trail, just checking things out. So I decided to go all heavy metal weird, with my old Ruger Alaskan .454 in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake and loaded with 365-gr dinosaur-killers. I am amazed at how well the Simply Rugged holster carries the big gun! And the Garretts will stop a rampaging Cadillac Escalade.

Anchovies...please NO. I only drink red wine. Red is good for you. White wines are, well, white.

Walked into the kitchen this morning for a cup of coffee and was hit by the most holy smell of pork shoulder in the crock pot.

Scrambled eggs and diced pork shoulder for breakfast, pulled pork sammie for lunch, carnitas for dinner.

    I am blessed.

  5. I read something about CCWing while using a cane the other day, and I thought, "I wonder how Michael Bane's knee is doing."
Apparently it's much better if you can walk in snow, with a three-pound roscoe on your belt.
    Glad to hear it.

He could be carrying the revolver in a shoulder rig :-)

  8. ". . . in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake . . . " It's a belt holster. Go to simplyrugged.com and see for yourself. I think it's evidence that the old knee is getting better.
Either that or the whole "injury" was a fake scam con to . . . do something.
