STI International, long a dominant player in the modular-framed 1911 style pistol market — they OWN competition shooting! — just popped their plastic 9mm, the GP6. Here are the initial specs:
Built on a light weight, highly durable polymer (Polyamide GF 30) frame, the GP6 incorporates integrated tactical rails and textured side panels, front and rear straps. The GP6’s all steel slide is tri-topped with front and rear cocking serrations and features a fixed 3 dot sight system. The controls consist of ambi-thumb safeties, an ambi–slide release, firing pin safety, and a user configurable magazine release for equal ease of use in either right or left handed configuration. The barrel is 4.25” in length featuring an innovative rotational lock up system. Long term durability testing units have fired more than 110,000 shots without any change in internal geometry. The GP6 comes standard with a storage case, 2 magazines, and sight keys.Looks kinda Walther-esque to me...I'm trying to lay my hands on one as quickly as possible, the month before SHOT is always a dicey time. Mo' as it becomes available...am still waiting on at least one more plastic gun, whihc may or may not make it for SHOT...

Damn! If this is a competitor in the service pistol category, why the heck is it NOT in .45ACP? All we ever hear about is how the military wants to go back to the .45. Well, at least from the operators, the brass, who knows?
Mybe they're angling for the LEO market?
UGLY!!!!! Wil wait to see how it feels.
Uh. Why?
That pistol looks like an illicit liason between a Beretta 90-TWO and a CZ-75.
I'll bet you good money it uses a CZ-75 magazine.
The reason it is not a .45 is because European gun makers all start at 9mm. They never start a gun design with a .45 ACP.
Last I looked, STI was Texan.
MB, any thoughts on this issue - 9 vs .45?
YAWN!
It's a variation of an Eastern European design. I played with one in France last year. Rotating barrel lockup IIRC & 19 rounds of 9mm. It felt big enough to hold .45 ACP
Slovakia, I hear...

Hmmm, looks pretty neat. Can it be carried cocked and locked?
