OKC officer pulls man over for anti-Obama sign on vehicle
An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle.
The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn."
Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over.
''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview.
When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.
''They said, 'It's because of the sign in your window,'" Harrison said.
[...]
But his run-in with the law wasn't over yet.
''The Secret Service called and said they were at my house," Harrison said.
After talking to his attorney, Harrison went home where he met the Secret Service.
''When I was on my way there, the Secret Service called me and said they weren't going to ransack my house or anything ... they just wanted to (walk through the house) and make sure I wasn't a part of any hate groups."
Glenn Reynolds at InstaPundit noted a paper from the USC Chicano Studies Research Center on what constitutes "hate speech:"
Types of Hate Speech
We identified four types of speech that, through negative statements, create a climate of hate and prejudice:
(1) false facts [including "simple falsehoods, exaggerated statements, or decontextualized facts [that] rendered the statements misleading"],
(2) flawed argumentation,
(3) divisive language, and
(4) dehumanizing metaphors."Check out the link and read the "examples." Okay! That about covers it! In the new world of Maximum Barry, we'll all be allowed to wax poetic about teddy bears, Oprah, and that lovely woman Nancy Pelosi. Oh yeah, don't mind that yellow Star of David that reads "GUNOWNER" stitched on all your clothing! It's only a fashion accoutrement!

Good Lord! I would half-expect this to happen in California, but in my state of Oklahoma?
Hmm...the will probably be after me next!
It would appear that freedom of speech is only one way. I don't recall stories like this when the left wing loonies were castigating Pres Bush
By the way... the 2nd amendment ensures the first amendment
See. they were right. Bush wrongly imprisoned terrorist at Gitmo when what really needed to be done was to crack down on US citizens. Thank God Obama is here to re-orient our culture and get us back on track.
Guy was in public, expressing his views and not harming anyone -- apparently the Bill of Rights means less now than when Bush was futzing with it.
How on Terra do we get folks to understand that these are inalienable rights and, when it's merely an expression of one's personal opinions on public streets, are constitutionally protected? Had this gentleman been peacefully and lawfully in possession of a firearm, would he have been disarmed and arrested?
Anyone else find it ironic that the officer thought aborting Obama meant killing him? Perhaps the Libs would like to reprogram this guy because its obvious that aborting babies is not a bad thing at all and those who do it should be praised.
Its almost as if the officer thinks that aborting the unborn equates to murder or something.
BTW, I'm not a nutjob christian, just pointing out the irony that's gonna be lost on the liberal press.
It seems we are moving swiftly to March 23,1933 Germany than February 20th, 2009 America.....
What's the price to pay for the cop, dept, municipality?
What's to stop them from doing more of this?
(1) false facts
(2) flawed argumentation,
(3) divisive language, and
(4) dehumanizing metaphors
...one or all of which can be found in any Daily Kos post selected at random.
(1) false facts

Wow, the gun banners are guilty of hate speech every time they open their mouths. Now, who wants to take any bets that they would be charged as such.
No, the only ones to be charged will be anybody who is not of the Left who posits an argument using:
1.) Facts
2.) Logical Argumentation
3.) Polite Language
4.) Repspect for people with a different opinion
I guess moving towards 1930's Germany is change.
Old news. Already occurred on the Michael Bane Message Boards last summer:
