Incompetence or Malevolence

Everybody in America should read this piece from Roger Kimball at PajamasMedia...the country that all of us want to live in is being ripped apart at a left that even Mr. Paranoid Michael could have conceived before the November election:
Yes, we agreed, it certainly looks like incompetence and, judged by its results, is effects, its consequences for this great country, it is incompetence on a breathtaking scale.

And yet, is it only incompetence? Remember, shortly before the election, Obama boasted to his mesmerized supporters that “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” Is that not what he has set about doing–with a vengeance?

And here’s where we began talking about another possibility: that Team Obama was deliberately targeting the U.S. economy, deliberately impoverishing millions of Americans, deliberately angering our closest allies while coddling dictators like Putin and his puppet Medvedev and funneling millions to terrorist organizations like Hamas.

Maybe that young person the financial journalist Jim Cramer spoke to was right and “We’ve elected elected a Leninist” whose “agenda is destroying the life savings of millions of Americans”
[...]
Why would Obama inflict these destructive policies while the economy is collapsing? Simple. Each step strengthens the role of government in people’s lives.

And here we have the ’enry ’iggins moment: “By George, I think he’s got it!” “Each step strengthens the role of government in people’s lives.” That’s exactly what Lenin sought to do. In a cheery volume called State and Revolution, for example, Lenin explains how:

And the dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e., the organization of the vanguard of the oppressed as the ruling class for the purpose of suppressing the oppressors, cannot result merely in an expansion of democracy. Simultaneously with an immense expansion of democracy, which for the first time becomes democracy for the poor, democracy for the people, and not democracy for the money-bags, the dictatorship of the proletariat imposes a series of restrictions on the freedom of the oppressors, the exploiters, the capitalists.

Lenin, too, wished to “spread the wealth around.” And Obama, like Lenin, has been perfectly frank in recommending that we need to go beyond the “merely formal” rights enunciated in the Constitution in order to “bring about redistributive change” in society.

"Admiral Dennis Blair, the new Director of National Intelligence (DNI), presented the Annual Threat Assessment of the Intelligence Community to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) last Thursday. The primary focus of past DNI Threat Assessments has been terrorism and nuclear proliferation, but the DNI identified the global economic crisis and its geopolitical implications as this year's top national security concern."

Pretty drastic change in one year

Rahm has also said that having an 'emergency' makes it much easier to ram through new policies and laws.

So, the economic meltdown that began before Obama was elected is now his fault? The possible impending failure Of AIG, Citi, and GM, and the continuing rise in unemployment are what are driving the stock market. Not a deliberate Obama policy.

You really are paranoid.

When the actions taken by Obama exascerbate the problems you're damn right it's his fault.

Magpul runs a line on their webiste - Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

However, bho is what he is - a malevolent force that is working hard to destroy the power of the US in the world, and the authority of the US Citizen over the gummint and over their own destinies - the things that made this country great in the first place.

In this case, Magpul's quote is wrong - it is malevolence - it is purposeful. He may not have started the slide - some of us have seen worse (dot com bubble burst in 2000 is one example) and we recovered. At this point he is intentionally driving the market into ruin for his and his handlers' gain - in power and wealth.

To Anonymous @ 3:43 P. M.:
Make no mistake about who brought down the economy. It was intentional! Make no mistake in admitting why they did it. Don't get caught up in the semantics of who actually did it. It was more than one person. It was for the "collective" ambition of "THE PARTY".
Look at it from this perspective: The "other" candidate had just named an "Winner" as a running mate. The country's security and the now won Iraq war was the public's concern. Favorability ratings and the pols had suddenly swung into the "other's" favor. The only way the "opposite" candidate" could win was to have a faultering economy. With the economy seriously faltering then, even many of the Second Amendment crowd could be counted on to sacrifice their values to vote for "that" candidate. After all, he promised most convincingly to fix the economy and everything else. Everyones economic troubles would not only be over and so would cancer. Oh and "I won't take your guns away!" Then, after winning the election, "they" could put forth their agenda of "change". Is all of this sounding like a movie plot to you? It should. Take the most outrageous Orwellian novel (Nineteen-Eighty-Four) and multiply it's theme by 100 and that's what's in play here.
Can you admit now, that you know who it was that brought down the economy? The Congressional Record shows that everyone was warned of the mortgage banking risks, many times. Oh by the way, the "other" candidate is on record warning them multiple times. It shows who poo-pooed it off as a non-problem. Then they dumped the problem in under the sitting President's watch. Can you answer who caused the "run" on "Fannie" and "Freddie"? If not, you're hiding from the truth.
What's the bottom-line for this crowd? OUR GUNS ARE ABOUT TO GO!
God help us all.

Obama is a Leninist,he is merely wearing a disguise.Jesus called the methodology as,"a wolf in sheep's clothing".
Obama is a wolf and must be regarded as deadly to America. He is merely wearing a sheepskin coat.

On my more paranoid days I have flashbacks to the cold war and wonder if BHO could be a Soviet Deep sleeper agent intent on the disruption of America.

Obama is worse than any Soviet Communist. Even Vladimir Putin warned the US of the pitfalls of communism and that socialism doesn't work. Putin just did that recently and he's "hard-core"! Obama is a populist magician and the Pied-Piper all rolled into one. He is leading the lemmings off the cliff and they're laughing all the way. They think that there's a "party" at the bottom. There is, but they're actually not invited. Global socialism is the goal, with him as the Supreme Leader. The rest of the socialist loonies like Gordon Brown are part of it and may even be struggling to see if they can be at the top too. Only the Muslim world will be outside of this all. This is more like an evil comic book, to me.
Michael posted some artwork last year, I think, that showed a pile of skulls. Below it there were words that declared that no matter how many are killed to make the Utopian-Socialist dream true, it can never work. We can see now that they are starting to "kill" the dissenters, at least figuratively. Look at what they're doing to Rush and Cramer and anyone else getting in his way. Obama has also held to the true form of a tyrant, by appointing liars, cheaters and other 'deviants" to important positions, because he knows that they will do his bidding, because they can't work anywhere else. They're actually happy to do it too. Oh, by the way, didn't a few of those run "Fannie" and "Freddie" and wasn't the one watching the "watchers" one of those too?

How will the President maintain control? With the bureaucracy.

Will the governors have direct control over their states? Fear will keep the states in line. Fear of this government.

In the simplest terms, the only way Obama can make us true equals is to make us all poor. He has to strip us of the power and the freedom of choice. Taking away the choice and the freedom of the 2nd amendment would be a powerful victory for him, for if the 2nd amendment was gone, what would we (the people) resort to? No other amendment can qualify as an equalizer. Without the 2nd amendment, there is no Bill of Rights.

It's pretty clear that Obama's "change" really is "Clintonian Politics with a Socialist Focus". Instead of anything resembling change, we get Clinton administration retreads; same old same cronyism. Add to that a serious lack of experience and common sense, and what we're left with is a charismatic President who's the dumbest smart guy since Carter.

For the first time in my adult life, I am afraid for this country. I guess it's time to put the Congressman, Senators, and State reps on speed dial.

Hate to break it to everyone but the economy was in big trouble MONTHS before BO took office. Years of little to no oversight by the GW administration coupled with corporate greed and people feeling "entitled" to a larger piece of the pie, regardless of if they could truly afford it got us in this mess. Take the tin foil hats off.
If we want to preserve out 2nd amendment rights, you need to sound like credible people. Blaming the economic meltdown on the new administration because we don't like his 2nd Amend feelings lessens any clout one might have. Claiming we're being taken to hell in a hand basket is naive as well. Doing nothing about the economy would get us there just as fast. Take the tin foil hats off and keep your arguments rational and intelligent. The rest is just noise that is easily ignored. I for one plan on fighting for my 2nd Amend rights but not by slipping into a crazy rant about "sleeper agents out to get us!" Yeah, we'll be taken seriously with that....

Agree with your general sentiments, Anon, but this crisis was precipitated by the housing market collapse, which was caused by the subprime market going from 5% to 30%. That was Bill Clinton's doing through Fannie Mae in 1999, abetted by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. GW held hearings on Fannie Mae's solvency, and was smacked down by Dodd, Frank and the rest of the Congressional Dems. It was a time bomb that blew up on Dubya. Not his fault. And Obama will just give us more of the same meddling policies.

I, too, get turned off by the tinfoil-hat stuff. About as much as I get turned off by the "corporate greed" mantra.
