Another Crazy Busy Day

Federal agent John Dodson says what he was asked to do was beyond belief.
He was intentionally letting guns go to Mexico?

"Yes ma'am," Dodson told CBS News. "The agency was."

An Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms senior agent assigned to the Phoenix office in 2010, Dodson's job is to stop gun trafficking across the border. Instead, he says he was ordered to sit by and watch it happen.Oh please let the ZOMBIE season closer for SHOOTING GALLERY get finished! It's gonna rock, but it's a staggering amount of work. Snowing sideways here at the Secret Hidden Bunker, but it has been warm all week. I would actually like to see snow on the day we're filming...I like the claustrophobic feel of a snowstorm.

GREAT article on Gabe Suarez's WarriorTalk on "trunk rifles"...even though I'm thoroughly sick of "warrior" anything, but I urge you to read this article:

http://www.warriortalknews.com/2011/02/the-role-of-the-trunk-rifle.html

Please read the whole thing. Frankly, I'm not crazy about a "trunk" rifle...I'd rather have the long gun at hand. I'm big on a bag laced behind the passenger seat in a car that carries the gun and ammo, a system I've tried a couple of times and like.

I'm fiddling with a Winchester '94 .44 Magnum as a long gun for airline carry. Doug Turnbull has a really nice mounting system for a Burris red dot on a '94, and I like the idea of a long gun/revolver package for travel.

HERE'S A FUNNY POINT OF AGREEMENT...today BHo, the sad, pathetic panda masquerading as the President of the United States, said he really really really believes in the Second Amendment, but that doesn't mean the U.S. can't can't take steps to control the flow of arms into Mexico...amazingly, I agree with him! I say, ABOLISH THE BATFE! This from CBS News today:

It's tine we shut these criminals down once and for all! Americans have died at the hands of weapons "walked" into Mexico by BATFE incompetence. President Obama...step up!

Interesting concept. What about a Marlin 1894C in .44 Mag? Robust and cheaper than the JMB. Or... is your Winny a take-down? Speaking of that, what about a Browning BLR take-downs in a rifle caliber? Throw on a scout scope and .308 can cover a multitude of sins.

I so dearly love spending other people's money and ammunition.

Evil Roy uses a BLR as his take-down rifle...primary criteria of Winchester was that I have a 16 1/2 inch Trapper .44 Mag in the safe!

The other day I casually mused that if the ATF and DEA were eliminated entirely that the crime rate wouldn't rise to any measurable degree.

Upon further reflection, I think I may have been onto something.

In other news, my "trunk gun" is a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag with a 1-4x scope. Though, as I drive a Mini Cooper-S, in my case it's a "Boot Gun."

I sent an email to congressman Boehner suggesting that congress shut down the BATFE and let the IRS handle the tax revenue as it is really their job any way and the FBI can surely handle the explosives part.
Speaker of the House Boehner needs to get a lot more emails like that...

Pistol cartridge in rifle action = no joy. Some work, many don't.

You'd be better off hacking a few inches off of a Marlin 1894, methinks. Or springing for one of those ported trappers they made a while back.

Trunk gun choice...KelTec SU-16B. OAL of 25 inches, AR mags, potent cartridge. Small enough for non-descript case. Car to house to hotel etc. Has enough energy and accurate enough to reach out to 100 yards with sustained fire. Price won't break the bank.

whenI was in high school, I worked in the vinyaards for a man who was the local judge, we often had coffee with local deputies and investigators and were somewhat priveledged to some of their conversations, in one conversation, the investigator was talking about drug trafficers, and I asked him if he knew who they were at the street level, which in my case, who was feeding the highschool and middle school, and he informed me " oh yes, but we are just following them because they will lead us to the big guys. years later I wasat a wedding reception and was sitting with one of those local trafficers, who was now the investigator for the local sheriffs department, working narcotics and our conversation came around to ...." you probably have some insight as to how it works..... " his reply.. "oh we're not after the little locals, we are after the "big guys"............ when do you suppose that the law enforcement community will come to grips with the idea that you build a wall one brick at a time, you can destroy an organization, no matter how big or small the same way.
