Front Range Shooting Ban Update

I spoke with Glenn Casamassa of the U. S. Forest Service yesterday on the continued closure of the Colorado Front Range forests to sport shooting. Originally, those bans were put in place at the beginning of our hellishly dry summer — you know the awful fires we've experience. It has, however, been a rainy July, and fire bans statewide and locally have all been lifted.

I was assured that USFS would begin "making adjustments" in their restrictions within the next couple of days.

Sadly, we have to stay on top of this because of USFS' history of closing shooting areas for the slightest, and often imaginary, reasons. Casamassa has always been straight with me, however, and I am hopeful.

I did say that I supported the NSSF standards for fire prevention — no tracers of any kind, no steel-cased or steel-core ammo (it will spark on rocks) and for heaven's sake no exploding targets!

Michael; I'm assuming your secret hidden bunker is located in unincorporated area in the mountains.

Are you saying the Forest Service ban on shooting applies even to your private land?

Like for some open space behind your home with a safe backstop?...

How will they film episodes of American Guns?

I have no idea what the HELL SureFire is talking about, and I will indeed bring it up with them. Brownell's didn;t seem to have any problems. Although, bizarrely, Midway wouldn't ship shotgun shells, of all things, to me on my most recent order. I'll try to sort this out...

BTW - I didnt' say thank you for always fighting for us.

One of these days we'll be at the range at the same time - I'll say then too.

Thank You.

Can't blame Surefire for Denver 38-130 et.seq.:(g)
Sale or transfer unlawful. It is unlawful to sell or transfer possession of an assault weapon possessed pursuant to subsection (f) within the City and County of Denver.
(h)
Reserved.
(i)
Specific magazine prohibited. It shall be unlawful to carry, store or otherwise possess a magazine which will hold or may be modified to hold twenty-one (21) or more rounds.
The conflict may be only potential but Surefire isn't to blame for playing it safe - said to be one reason the Sportsman's Warehouse on Wadsworth was picked to close - County of Denver reached 10 feet into the strip mall.

Won't matter here in the People's Democratic Republic of Maryland. nuthin' larger than 20 rounders, 1 gun a month, (told 'em I could'nt. afford a gun every month!) scarey rifles and shotguns go thru same waiting period as handguns, etc. It's wonderful living(?) in a dem. controled cess-pool......nice thing is having relatives in Va.,who don't mind recieving occaisional shipments of "accesories". B-)

20 rounds magazines? What's that? I 'm in the People's Republic of Kalifornia.. Only military and LEO's got that kind of stuff here. Of course, that's speaking of legal possession. That doesn't apply to gangbangers and illegal aliens....
