More Data Points from the Battlefield

First, from the scumbags at American Hunters and Shooters Association, our bitter enemies in Mossy Oak drag:
Today, as President of the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA), I announced our endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. Because the gun issue has recently become a factor in the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania, I want to share the remarks I made today:

As a gun rights organization we have not come to this decision lightly. We were formed two years ago because our research shows that millions of gun owners wanted a change. They not only wanted an organization that would protect their gun rights but an organization that was also committed to the protection of their communities as well as the protection of our lands. We reached out to the Obama campaign several weeks ago to offer our support and approval as was reported by Paul Bedard of US News and World Report. We believe recent attacks on Senator Obama's stand on the 2nd Amendment and his commitment to our hunting and shooting heritage are unfair and American Hunters and Shooters Association is stepping up to set the record straight.
Yeah, right...I'm only sorry the AHSA isn't close enough to spit on. Read Republican Michiganer's take on these weasels.

This from the new frontier, Open Carry:
PROVO, Utah — For years, Kevin Jensen carried a pistol everywhere he went, tucked in a shoulder holster beneath his clothes.

In hot weather, the holster was almost unbearable. Pressed against his skin, the firearm was heavy and uncomfortable. Hiding the weapon made him feel like a criminal.

One evening he stumbled across a site that urged gun owners to do something revolutionary: Carry your gun openly for the world to see as you go about your business.

In most states, there's no law against that.

Jensen, 28, decided to give it a try. A few days later, his gun was visible, dangling from a black holster strapped around his hip as he walked into a Costco. His heart raced as he ordered a Polish dog at the counter. No one called police. No one stopped him.
Interestingly enough, I got "made" by a cop for carrying a gun on Sunday, after my long bike ride. As usual, I had my Ruger LCP in a SafePacker on the bike. When I finished the ride, I slipped the SafePacker onto my belt and covered it with a "Stunt Women's Association of Motion Pictures" t-shirt. Whe I walked into one of Boulder's hippie restaurant/microwbreweries, there were three guys sitting at the center table who just screamed "LEO!" They were all by themselves...the hippes having migrated to other tables.

The main guy saw y SafePacker and did an honest-to-goodness double-talk, just like in the cartoons. He did everything but point and then jump up and scream "GUN! That madman has a gun!"

I did what you should do in such a situation...I ignored him and took a seat where I could watch him out of the corner of my eye. Twice he started to get up and his friends talked him down. Had he come over, I would have: 1) Introduced him to my Sweetie, the attorney
2) Mentioned to him the definition of "concealed" in Colorado law
3) Engaged him in a spirited discussion of that old devil probable cause

He ate his burger and split, and the hippes were none the wiser...

Michael,

It’s apparent to anyone that doesn’t have press credentials that the AHSA has nothing to do with either hunting or shooting. It’s just another gun grab bunch with a slicker name.

I don’t know of any legitimate organization were the CEO can arbitrarily decide who the group will support for elected office. Normally it’s something the board of directors or the members decide at a national meeting.

I’m one of the 14% of folks who shoot, hunts and carries every day. This bunch of Soros, Bloomberg, Kerry and Clinton gun owners don’t come close to representing me.

By the way, if somebody calls me a Fudd I will take offence to it.

Your experience with the PoPo shows the true colors of what I believe to be the vast majority of cops. Cops are just as much the enemy of law abiding gun owners as the anti gun politicians. Most cops are indeed jack booted thugs just a step away from making good Stasi or Gestapo. Law abiding gun owners beware.

Claiming to be a gun-owner, just before spewing victim-disarmament lies, is becoming a standard lie in their playbook.

Ratcatcher: ... you aren't the one we are referring to when we say "Fudd". You actually have a clue.

Most cops I know here in SoFla (and I am 68 yrs old) feel that the force of their "authority" is diluted by CCW civilians having the same legal "carry" rights that they have as cops--dmd

Any shooting organization that supports Obama is comprised of raving lunatics; not deserving of being called shooters.

What a bunch of shit birds.
