Snow! Note the rearview micro of my Honda Element on the upper left! The tiny mirror on the right is my Sweetie's Mini, in deep hibernation...
Yesterday's Holder testimony on Fast & Furious was about what I expected...Holder is, at his core, a water-carrier whose primary "accomplishments" have been brokering deals for rogue billionaires, freeing terrorists and fanning the fires of racial hatred. He is also holding the bag for an operation that only makes sense as a direct attack on the Second Amendment. I abhor conspiracy theories, because as a journalist I spent time with many of the people implicated in a number of conspiracies, and my take was the vast majority of people, including all of the government apparatchiks I worked with, couldn't organize a bake sale, much less a conspiracy.
Having met a lot of the gun control advocates over the years, I do believe however they are the kind of damaged individuals who would happlily green light the slaughter of foreign nationals and even countenance "collateral damage" in America to move forward their holy issue of gun control. Think about it...gun control has NEVER worked — not once. It always fails, often disasterously. Despite 3 decades of antigun propaganda, including a complicit mainstream media and an entertainment industry that until very recently actually allowed antigun advocates to write subplots of popular television shows and movies, support for any gun control is at an all-time low. The antigun industry is getting desperate, and Fast & Furious if nothing if not a desperate "Hail Mary" pass to swing public opinion toward more control. That particular Hail Mary pass not only missed its intended receiver, but it flew out of the stadium all the way to Washington to hit Eric Holder in the head.

As much as I hate to say it, F&F has turned out to be a dud. A non-event. There is no traction anywhere but the blogosphere and FOX. CBS coverage was good but it has repeatedly been buried as a page 25 story. 3 minutes, 20 minutes into network newscast.
You are not playing with amateurs. These guys own the mass media and all communications. The generation under 30 doesn't read, have no understanding of politics or history and barely know how to bath by themselves. Colbert and Stewart are what they watch.
9 out of 10 people have NEVER HEARD OF IT. Period, full stop. Obama will win in November. Just get used to it.
wow... talk about a siminar caller!
seminar
As much as I hate to say it, Anon, there is little traction (not no traction). However, Issa is not going to let go, and even the Obot media won't be able to gloss over "Holder held in contempt of Congress" if it comes to that. If the documents do get released, the fecal matter may well hit the air circulating device for the AG.
This is far from over, and I think the weight of circumstances tilt against Holder. Personally, the next time Holder appears, I would like to see explicit crime scene photos from as many of the hundreds of Mexicans killed with F&F guns be shown: "And this was Mario Gonzales; and this was..."
Holder would have a hard time maintaining his low-key "mistakes were made" demeanor which seems calculated to make the program appear far less horrid than it was.
Shoveling? You mean gas powered snow blowing right? I hope the Denver hippies didn't outlaw them due to their "carbon footprint."
Sorry to hear about Alf...
I'm not sure why someone is a "seminar caller" when they see F&F for what it really is. As much as I'd like to see Holder burn for this travesty of "law enforcement," it won't happen for the reasons stated by Anonymous. It has become political theater whether we as staunch 2A supporters like it or not. Most people are unaware of F&F. To think this will bring down the Obama administration is wishful thinking.
Traction is our responsibility, not the guys who are being prosecuted. We generally talk about things within our own supportive subcultures.
We must bring F&F facts to our crazy old uncle, far out cousins and wacky parents. What I mean is we need to confront those we know who we would never speak such things to because of whatever pre-existing history we have.
This includes our internet lists. Don't just send it to your buds who are "on our side", send it to the friends and family who are not on our side and to whom you would not or do not communicate gun news too.
Traction is our responsibility.
excellent point rastus... we cant just whine.. we need to be proactive against an obvious wrong...
Thanks Dam Doc. I should have expanded my 1st paragraph to read that we need to kick out of the particular subculture we reside in with friends, work and family. We really do have to be proactive and wise in presenting the material in the proper context outside of our viewpoint that will resonate with them in their "subculture world".
Pet. Eng...here, we like to frac (not frack, though that's good too) here and there. A little frac here, a little frac there and the gas flows out, reduces bottom hole pressure so...how is it that what we do migrates to higher pressured zones (especially when considering gradients). I digress.....
from another forum/blog site, I have read that Fast and Furious/Gunwalker, was part of larger operation called PATCON which is short for Patriot Conspiracy. Eric Holder's experience in government scandals goes at least all the way back to the Waco debacle. If the rumors about PATCON are true, it appears that our government has a hand in the operations or control of several white supremacist groups.
Sorry to hear about Alf, give her a treat and a pat on the head for me. She reminds me of our beagle we lost to kidney disease last year. Be careful cleaning that mess up....
