Before "Kumbaya," a Few Points of Clarification

Both Democrats (predictably), the Republican establishment (also predictably) and the discredited MSM (because they don't have a clue) are giving their "mend a divided nation," peace love and flowers speech. Before we all sit down at the same drum circle, I'd like to clarify a few points:

1) We didn't elect Trump to "end the gridlock in Washington."

2) We didn't elect Trump to "reach across the aisle to get things done."

3) We didn't elect Trump to cozy up to the Democrats and see if they can find a "compromise" way to chip away at our rights.

We elected Trump — and I have been all-in for a long time — to END the "fundamental change" of America, to drag the "Obama legacy" into the sunlight, tie it to a post, execute it, then bury it in unhallowed ground. Only then can America move ahead.

A couple of more points of clarification, at least from my point of view (which is, parenthetically, the only one I am qualified to give):

1) I unconditionally respect the rights of other people to their own opinions. I respected it on Monday; I respected it on Wednesday. That doesn't mean I have to respect those opinions.

2) After the progressive far-left takeover of the Democrat party, those Democrat plotted — gleefully — how they were going to strip me of my rights as soon as they were in office. They made it a talking point. They did not give a damn that the vast majority of Americans were against them; rather, they operated on Barack Obama's coda of, "Elections have consequences."

3) Socialism, even in it's Democratic Party guise of "progressivism," is evil, a boot on the face forever, to paraphrase Orwell. Socialism is the handmaiden to totalitarianism. It has never worked; it will never work. If you as an individual would like to participate in a socialist experiment, move to Venezuela  or any number of African pest-holes. They would be happy to have you, and the money in your wallet. Bring your own food. I unconditionally oppose any compromise on moving America in that direction. I opposed it on Monday; I opposed it on Wednesday.

4) I see no difference between "progressives" and, say, violent anti-Semites or America Nazis — they hold opinions which I do not and can not countenance. Moreover, progressives are, as are their analog anti-Semites and virulent racists, evangelical in their zeal to spread their vile teachings. Compromise? What compromise is there with evil?

5) If you are a liberal, that is, you come with a different world view than mine, fine, we can talk, argue, maybe find some common ground. If, however, your liberalism extends to limiting my rights or exercising power over my life, there is no common ground to be found.

6) On Monday, I was a small "l" libertarian and a single-issue voter. Nothing changed on Wednesday morning.

7) I'm all for "civil," not so much on "compromise."

I agree with you, Michael. Completely. On every point.

I only hope Trump thinks the way you do. Of that I am not convinced.

That said, we narrowly avoided a catastrophe on Tuesday and for that I am greatly relieved.

Well said Michael.

I will only add this: When liberals offer to compromise, to chip-away at what I stand for , I remind them that half-way between "right" (me) and "wrong" (them) is still WRONG!

And lets be honest, EVERYONE knows the difference between right and wrong, even Liberals. They go for "wrong" because there's usually something hooked to it just for them.

Well done Michael. I saw your submission on Ammoland.com.

I am pessimistic. He's already surrounding himself with the usual statist suspects, e.g. the likes of Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, etc. In four years we will see we are still at least $20T in debt, more erosion of individual liberty and gov't just as large. The alternative with a Hillary presidency is much worse.

James,

Let's not start "skiing in front of the boat" now. There has to be a balance between new and proven. Not everything needs to be re-invented and contrary to the popular meme that "________ is broken", often it isn't; it's just not being used as intended or designed. Likewise, there are individuals with proven performance and maybe not. Then, there's also room for new faces.

As a for instance, there is only one set of Laws of Economics. There are not two, or more. There aren't a set for Liberals and one for Conservatives. There's only one and coincidently, Conservative hold those actual laws as the basis for a successful economy. There's no need to invent something new. I'll also put my money on Giuliani for Attorney General because he's "proven". I think that you'll see a fresh "Chief of Staff" though.

I say, give Trump the chance that he deserves.

I'm with Him. Together, we'll all "Make America Great Again!" Don't be afraid to hold his feet to the fire though. I think that you will be heard.

Respectfully,

Well color me shocked 😳. I didn't think Trump had a snowballs chance in hell. I was so drunk on tequila on election night I thought I was hallucinating. Still glad I ordered a decked out FAL but much more relieved. So Michael my question is how do we not waste this unexpected gift. I don't want 2017 to end without National Reciprocity & The Hearing Protection Act passed. Gun owners showed up for Trump (sigh even never Trumpers like me) and I don't want to see us pushed to the side & ignored like in the past. What can you tell us about the way forward.

Trent said...

Just listened to your podcast got it.

Michael Bane said...

I started talking about how we need to go forward on the podcast. I'll be in touch with my friends on the Trump Second Amendment Committee. I've already reached out to talk about ###1 & 2 on our list -- reciprocity and the Hearing Protection Act. We will NOT let this opportunity slup by us!

National Reciprocity is born dead IMHO.
There is a buttload of precedent that says States can have garbage laws.

Do you really want Pelosi, Schumer, the Boxstein twins and McCain to have input over your current concealed carry permit? Screw that!
Just do what I do - STAY OUT OF ENEMY TERRITORY! If you go into one of the commie run states, you *will* spend a nickel there and then you are paying to support them!
Again, Screw that!

Vince Warde said...

Right on target!

One thing though - I highly doubt that, now that there is a strong pro-gun rights majority in the White House, the House, the Senate we will hear much talk of "compromise". In deed, it is quite rare for gun control advocates to ever truly compromise.

I tell you what though, let me suggest a compromise to every gun control group out there:

Create a federal preemption of all laws regarding the purchase, ownership, and transportation of unloaded firearms, as well as ammunition and reloading components.

AND

Make it a felony with a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years for anyone to retain background check information on cleared, background checks - or to compile any kind of firearms registry beyond the 4473 forms. Said crime shall be prosecutable by any prosecutor, local, state or federal, in the United States.

AND

Require every state to establish shall issue concealed carry permitting system (which is a compromise from Constitutional Carry), with no more than 16 hours training required and to recognize any permit from any US state or territory.

The day that gun control advocates agree to support those measures, I will consider how we may expand the NICS system. However, there is, as we all know, zero chance that any gun control group would ever accept that kind of "compromise". Ironic, because that is much more of a "compromise" than they have ever offered us........

So, we may just have to pass all those measures - and more - without giving them anything in return. After all, elections have consequences.

And don't forget that we need to put in place incentives and protections for gun ranges. If the anti's can't get our guns they will work around the edges. They will make it more and more difficult to establish, run and protect in court the places where we shoot. These places are the breeding ground, the incubators, for new shooters. Ranges must be a priority in the next 4 years.

Michael Burbank said...

Michael, I agree with you 100%. Now is the time to destroy the enemies of this grand God given experiment. Destroy it as completely as can be done, not the people but the culture.

Rein in the courts. Make Congress take their positions seriously. Oversight of the government BELONGS to Congress. For decades Congress has failed because it is work. Congress has become an arm of the progressives. Let the bureaucracy understand that they are to implement the law not make law.

Rooting out corruption is high on my list. This will have to be done by an independent agency. Ask for Comey's resignation on day one. The FBI has been damaged for years if not decades.

I don't see the sense in studying the lifestyle of gay men in Argentina. Stop all grants for 2 years with Congress overseeing what grants are given. Emergency grants shall ONLY be granted by Congress. Stop funding the universities that live off of the government.

CHL shall be like driver's licenses. It does not matter what training or education is required for a driver's license it must, by federal law, be respected in all states and territories. Same should go for CHL. Autos are much more dangerous than a firearm ever is.

We, as citizens and owners of this country, must become involved with our representatives, local, state and federal. Let them know you on a first name basis. And give thanks to GOD that hopefully his choice for our President follows HIS dictates. Natural Law eventually overcomes stupidity.

George Monaco,

You told a different story the last time. This story does not jibe with your last one. Both are sad tales of woe. You tell a rambling story, but I ain't buyin' it.

You're "Hillary Clinton" supporters? What else can be said, or needs to be said. In the end, there is no such thing as a "pro 2A" Democrat. They all lie about guns, among other things. You spew alleged facts, but are blind to the real truth about the party and candidate that owns you. In the least, all of the party's supporters are also lying by supporting the party's lies. In this past election, that has been confirmed "ad infinitum".

Again, I'm sorry for your illness that is not your fault. Now, go live on your savings, or perhaps your children will be able to support you in the mean-time, or until you receive full Social Security benefits. The insurance that you bought early on and kept in-force will also help. Wasn't your pension from those 40 years of productive employment enough?

In the mean-time, I'll be on the lookout for opportunities for an Anthropologist or Archaeologist.

Moreover, progressives are, as are their analog anti-Semites and virulent racists, evangelical in their zeal to spread their vile teachings. Compromise? What compromise is there with evil?

reply: so why did you vote for trump? he is the embodiment of evil.he is anti-semitic and a virulent racist but you voted for someone you describe as progressive which you can't countenance.

5) If you are a liberal, that is, you come with a different world view than mine, fine, we can talk, argue, maybe find some common ground. If, however, your liberalism extends to limiting my rights or exercising power over my life, there is no common ground to be found.

reply: i am a democrat but a life long member of the nra,a patron member that is actively involved with furthering the pro 2A pro gun agenda.also if you and everybody that writes in your blog do not want my agenda limiting your rights, which i never said that i did or would, then you and mr.anonymous should not try to dictate to me my rights under the constitution.mr.anonymous says i owe him and explanation of what i do because i am on ssi disability and i am taking his money.do something michael, shut him up.again if he wants to be left alone then leave me alone.to be honest you all will find out that trump is a liberal in sheeps clothing.i guess none of you have seen the pictures with him and bill and hillary years ago when he was a professed liberal democrat against gun rights.he even bankrolled her campaign in 2008 to the tune of $100k.he is going to screw all of us and he is using the nra and his liberal agenda to do it.wake up and read, look and understand.mr.anonymous said that i do not know my facts.they are published facts recorded in black and white and on many videos mr.trump has made.nobody wants to see it.nobody wants to see the many republicans that are anti gun and the many democrats that are pro gun.don't you all understand, a big billionaire like trump never does or gives anything to anybody.he is a self centered prick that even he said that he will own the biggest real estate in the world the white house.little does the idiot know that he will never be able to buy the white house.it is not his to buy.it is the peoples house.it is not for sale in one of his many "deals".his agenda is not anybodies aganda but his own which he will not reveal.how could any of you vote for someone that degraded john mccain saying,"i don't like people that were captured".john mccain is a veteran that made this country proud through his service.he was a p.o.w..is that what one of his own(trump),being republican, does to a fellow republican.wow!!! what is he going to do to the rest of us???

I just shared this on my Facebook page - again. It seems that so many people - even some in my very small group of FB friends - are just not getting this. They are still shouting for "coming together" and "reuniting" the country, when what they are really saying is "hey, we're really sad and butthurt that we got our progressive asses whipped, so can we just pretend it didn't happen and all come together and ask Trump to carry out Obama's agenda?" They can suck it. We're done compromising, and I've yet to find another piece that lays it out better. Thanks for this, Michael.

Repeal of the 17th Amendment would cut the head from the progressive snake. Until then, federalism will remain largely an empty dream.

We can count on 31 state legislatures to support a Republican-backed effort to return power to the states and we may never have a better opportunity in our lifetime to defeat Leviathan than we do now.

The enemy has suffered a major setback and we must push forward with our numerical advantage before they return stronger than ever. Deny the Party power over the Senate and the progs will have no place to return.

MALTHUS

Anonymous said...

Very well said MALTHUS.

The original intent of the process by which individual states elected their senators by vote of their elected legislators, was based on the same logic that the Electoral College was defined; to limit "majority rule" and the potentially destructive affects democracy could have on the integrity of government. Having our elected legislators select and vote on prospective senators provides a stabilizing affect on the process by smoothing-out volatile swings in public sentiment. The 17th Amendment was a "progressive" idea, as is the current infatuation with eliminating the Electoral College. The former should be eliminated as you suggest and the latter must never be allowed to happen.

Fight On!
