From Ruger today:
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the Ruger Single-Ten™, a ten-shot single-action revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle.
The Single-Ten features a ten-shot cylinder and is constructed from durable and handsome satin-finished stainless steel. With a 5.5" barrel and smooth, walnut "Gunfighter" grips, the Single-Ten is well balanced and points easily.
The sight picture of the Single-Ten is enhanced by Williams™ fiber optic sights, which are click-adjustable for both windage and elevation.
"The Single-Six has always been a fun gun to shoot," remarked Mike Fifer, Ruger's CEO. "The additional cylinder capacity, along with the trim Gunfighter grips and fiber optic sights, make shooting the Single-Ten even more enjoyable," he continued.
Well, cool...the single action traditionalist in me is going to have to think about this, but it will make shooting the RRC Cowboy Class quantums easier! Hit the link to see the gun...have limited ability to post pictures off the iPad...

how many rounds of 22 mag?
When is Ruger going to dig out the old tooling for the best revolver they ever made: the 256 Winchester Magnum single shot. Can you imagine that same gun handling all the super hot short mags available today? Now that would be sweet.
Sweet ! ...... "one-gun" Buckaroos ....
Will they be SASS legal ?
I like it....it makes the extra weight of the SS worth toting as compared to the Bearcat....
Now...when do we get a 5-or-6-shot .327Mag on the SS frame?....
'bout freakin' time!
:)
michael.. probably a stupid question, but how can a revolver be a single action? i would like to understand... thanks!
never mind... i get it now.. you have to manually pull the hammer back, and the trigger just releases the hammer ...just has not been my type of gun!... yet... still learning about some areas..
To my shame, I paid $100 for an H&R 922 .. a ten-round .22LR caliber single-action pistol which requires you to REMOVE THE CYLINDER to reliable eject the expended "shells".
It's my opinion that a 10-round .22 pistol, in single-action mode, is an exercise in frustration, if you expect to do much shooting with it.
Actually, the remove-the-cylinder design isn't all that bad; the cylinder pin is used to punch out the expended shells if you can't just 'shake' them out through the expended-rounds port. Silly design, of course; you still have to remove the cylinder to punch out the rest of the brass.
Speaking of the Ruger model: I've always liked Ruger single-action models; I have two in .41 magnum, and they are excellent engineering for a 6-round model.
Were the somehow to be magically morphed to the 10-round model, I would not have bought one of them.
In a Major Caliber, single-action makes sense; if you can't get a hit in six rounds, you probably won't have anything to shoot at. But in a ten-round handgun, you're probably just plinking, and nobody wants to muck about with the tiresome ejection process.
Just my opinion. YMMMV.
That revolver in maybe a 7 inch tube would be perfect for the gator hunters on the show, SWAMP PEOPLE.
The Ruger in .256 Winchester Magnum was not a revolver. It was a single-shot pistol with a swing-out breech. ; )

Like the 10-shot capacity. Helps 'em compete with the S&W 617.
The fiber optic sight is dorky. No idea why a company would put that coarse thing on a traditionally-styled target revolver.
I disagree with the negativity. I recently sold as Single Six Hunter because I was disappointed in it's balance and it's accuracy with .22 lr.
This gun looks like it will balance well and it is also a dedicated .22 lr revolver.
I also like the sights. I don't care about tradition. The sights look like an improvement over the original single six sights. The capacity also is an improvement
In truth, aren't all adjustable sights on SA revolvers "untraditional" and "dorky"? Traditionally, SA revolvers have rudimentary fixed sights. I prefer all mine with fully adjustable sights, however. I'm just hoping Ruger comes out with the Single 10 in a Bisley configuration :-D That will be the cat's meow!
Max.
