More 60 Minutes stuff...

The most amazing thing to me is that on a day when CBS is forced to cap four executives — including two from 60 Minutes Wednesday — for the Rathergate fiasco, the producers of 60 Minutes Sunday and Ed Bradley go right on with a story with exactly the same flaws as the Rathergate stories:
"The action was prompted by the report of an independent panel that concluded that CBS News failed to follow basic journalistic principles in the preparation and reporting of the piece."
Basic journalistic principles...like not airing material you know to be false. But it's okay, see, because the Bradley story is about guns, and it's okay for the media to present lies about guns as long as they pretend to give equal time to the other side. The fact that Tom Diaz from the Violence Policy Center wouldn't know the truth if it snuck up behind him and bit him on the ass doesn't even enter into it. The fact that major news outlets have had to print/air retractions of "facts" released by the VPC doesn't seem to matter.

More on this tomorrow!
