contessa brewer from MSNBC says you are all just a bunch of heavily armed angry white men.

That about sums me up..and proud of it.

I'm 100% on the "angry" and "heavily armed!"

That looks like entirely too much fun.

Michael, about how many actually attended? It's hard to "guestimate" from ground level. And where can we find recordings of the speech's? Someone had to have recording equipment.

I just wish I could have made it their, damn it.

It appears it was a light turnout. I hope they do it again in the future. I think there were several factors working against march this year, chiefly the march was held on a Monday.

I also noticed there was little news coverage of the event. Everything was about the OKC bombing 15 years ago.

I think we need to look at this event as just a start to something much bigger later on.

Was at the DC march. My estimate of the crowd was around 800 to a 1,000 at max. It was a spectacular day in DC weather wise, so that couldn't have turned off more attending. From my casual conversations seems the Virgina groups did a great job of turning out folks. The demographics were pretty mixed. Saw a surprising number of ladies out there, which is a great sign. But if you asked me who these folks were, I would say they are the die hards. They looked like the folks that you could get on a rainy November day to attend a 2A event. It wasn't like a scene from Spike Lee's Get On The Bus or Obama's inauguration. Forget the politics of either. I am referring to an overwhelming passion among a large community (which supposedly we are).

But I came away with the distinct feeling that all the heavy hitters just didn't support this. Here we were just down the street from the Capitol and you would think the Congressional Sportsmens Caucus would show up. Nope. You would think someone from a gun company or two would show up. Nope. You would think that someone from the gun rags would show up. Nope. Other than Bane that is. And that goes to show he is a stand up guy IMHO.

In conversation with some of the folks in the crowd I caught a real negative vibe regards the NRA (they also being just 15 minutes away). Of course they didn't show up with speakers either. No Wayne. No Chris. No directors.

In the five hour drive back home, I had time to ruminate on the event. Clearly there are hidden agendas in our "community". Often folks compare the 2A struggle with the civil rights movements of black Americans in the 50's and 60's (even I used such an analogy just now). I am sure that there must have been fissures and splits within that movement. But I can't imagine MLK not supporting or even issuing a press statement recognizing some important march or rally. I freely admit not being the sharpest tool in the shed, but dam if I didn't come away a little dejected and even pissed at what happened yesterday.

Jesus....did this guy videotaping the 2A rally hear of a tripod? I almost had an epileptic fit watching that clip.

There are many reasons that the big guys weren't there, but the one that burns me is they don't want to actually win--then they will be out of a job. There is a self-preservation mode in all organizations once people become more attached to the organization/system than to the goal.
